Floyd couldnt counter an abacus in his fight against pac. Youre just in denial. His best punches where those jabs for his 750ml IV

He embarrassed #48 in that fight he was never in it and showed how limited and flawed he was. The fact that Maidana gave PBF a harder fight tells you everyhing you need to know about it..:deal

    Nope.

Toney was a career MW who ate his way up to HW and STILL never got stopped.

Not to mention that he turned pro circa 1988.

And he's had nearly ONE HUNDRED FIGHTS!

THAT is what you call the best defensive fighter ever. :good

There are a lot of other defensive fighter in history that are near Floyd's level, and maybe higher.

    1. Whitaker
    2. Benitez
    3. Willie Pep
    4. Nicolino Locche
    5. James Toney
    6. Bernard Hopkins
    7. Jack Johnson

Perhaps Ali in his prime, and/or Jones.

Others who had good/great defensive skills that were overshallowed by even better offensive skills would include SRL, SRR, Duran.

Mayweather is in that mix, the only question is where.

I do not agree, and the grammar of your thesis is atrocious.

You said the greatest defensive fighter ever how can you be the greatest defensive fighter ever when you hand pick favorable match ups ? Is he up there sure but greatest ever not by a long shot!

Sorry these new revelations just put to many question marks on his career.

I think Whitaker was better. Just compare his fight with De La Hoya's to Mayweathers. Whitaker was more elusive despite being past prime and in with a faster, younger De La Hoya. Prime Mayweather got hit by shots against an old De La Hoya in his prime an old Whitaker didn't get hit with. Whitaker in my opinion was better.

Mayweather is definitely one of the best defensive fighters ever though, from distance or in close he was very hard to hit cleanly.

I wouldn't say better, especially not Toney. I would say 1A, 1B, 1C and 2. Toney. I would say that early on in his career Floyd turned defense into offense better than Pep and Whitaker, but all and all, those were the 3 greatest defensive fighters in history, which order you put them in I think is irrelevant. All 3 are better than Toney though.

You can't compare the 2 fights, because Sweet Pea was bigger than Floyd, He always was, he ran around the same size physically as Oscar, and Oscar could have never tried the same bullying tactics with Sweet Pea that he did with Floyd. I don't disagree that Whitaker was better, but I won't say which is definitively better, Both were equally good, however Floyd, especially earlier in his career was better at turning defense into offense than Sweet P was.

he is the only boxer who made a video of him saying "rich coward" , "health comes first", "yes, you're next"-then "don't put words in my mouth" (forced to sign fight with nemesis after five long years when he was ko'ed and still sabotaged and spied on his training with exclusive usada, judges and referee on board to ensure his win as long as he stays on his feet at the final bell so he hugged and run a lot to avoided all possibilities of action resulting in a very low output game between two atg's). yes, he mastered the art of defense because he doesn't want to get hurt and becomes fleet footed when threatened.
