I really don't know, a lot of people see Ricky Burns as a bit of a blind spot, a few times they have expected him to get beat, and he has come out brilliantly. It's just the way it is unfortunately. I don't think it's got anything to do with not being unbeaten, because he has never been in the state of Khan for instance, all over the place. Ricky has only lost on points years ago, the best boxers learn from defeat, and he has since the second one.

    Going undefeated since.

I don't see why people are getting so arsey, I actually think Ricky Burns is a good boxer who is soon going to prove whether or not he is world class for good.

Put it this way, many people have doubted Ricky Burns going into fights, I think he will get more respect and time now, if anybody deserves it, its the humble lad from Coatbridge.

I understand what you're saying Dunky. It's not only a tragedy that people can't see past the 0 but it also means that people like Richard Abril get diddled out of a legitimate win over a prospect like Brandon Rios because the promoters can't risk that loss that in the grand scheme of things wouldn't be the end of the world without this bull **** "he lost once, he's ****" way of thinking.

it seems some people will never take to ricky burns. everybody ricky beats will get tagged as eather 'shot' or a found out 'bum' just because people dont rate him. i think ricky should change his name to ricky 'the bum maker' burns.
i can see it now. ricky beats broner or demarco and suddenly they're **** or not as good as people thaught just because ricky beat them and people will be saying he needs to move up to a better division and fight the likes of Rios and get destroyed etc blah ****ing blah!

A never thought this was a issue dunky but a respect ur views so maybe it is, personally a think a loss can in the long run help not hinder. If theirs folk out there who crave the big 0 then their glory hunters not real fight fans

Excellent posts lads.Right on the money.
When I started out on the general,it was hard to find three people who would give Ricky an iota of credit. The reason he's taken on so many new fans is because he's answered every question, and given so much when so little has been expected.
Ironically, there are some hardcore Broner fans who actually give Ricky more credit than some of the people who make poor attempts at trying to discredit him here.Ricky is the most improved boxer in Europe and most of us aren't trying to make out he's going to crash the P4P top 5.We're realistic and just appreciate the huge strides Ricky has made.

And Rossco,Craney is making it up as he goes along. His whole point about Burns is based on who he's fought or not fought, yet Broner is only about who he's going to fight.

You'll never convince someone with that mindset of anything different.

I didn't know to much about Ricky before the Martinez fight but since then I've watched all 7 of his fights and he has won each one of them comfortably. If you compare Ricky and Broners last 7 opponents they are evenly matched so I don't see how people can say Broner is on a different level. Personally I don't think Ricky gets the credit he deserves.

I like Burns a lot. It's good to see a genuine, humble guy make the most of his obvious talent. He's had a number of solid wins at World level now in Martinez, Katsidis, Moses & Mitcbell but I'd love him now to have a really big unification. Any of Vasquez, Demarco or Broner would be great. I have him 2nd in the division behind Vasquez and just ahead of Demarco so a fight vs Vasquez would be ideal.

They're both great techicians too so it'd be a high quality affair I eeckon.

I keep hearing, "How can you say Burns is not world class at Lightweight when you say Broner is and he hasn't fought a Lightweight fight"

I feel like I'm repeating myself here, again, it's either that, or people are just choosing to browse straight past it.

WHO is Broner fighting in his FIRST fight at Lightweight? De Marco? Correct? OK. What is it for? WBC and Ring.

Now just forget about Ricky Burns altogether, IF Broner beats De Marco for the WBC and ring. Is he World Class at Lightweight? Forget about it being "1 fight", is he or isn't he if he beats De Marco?

Broner is fighting De Marco, that one fight alone trumps all 3 fighters Ricky has fought at Lightweight.

now that would be class

i scratch my head with some people on here. especially over in the general where trolling and going full ****** is in abundance. ive noticed some of the guy's questioning burns record are the same ones chugging their bellends over broner :huh. at least you get a good laugh reading some of it tho!

I'd just like to say to Dunky. I care not for records. I didn't even know Burns had lost to Johansson.

That's what I was trying to say earlier. He has completely slipped under my radar even though I've seen all his fights since Martinez. I don't really know why
