You have to be blind to miss the numerous low blows (not to mention other fouls) from Dempsey against Sharkey. When Sharkey finally goes down hes not clutching his jaw from Dempseys hook to the jaw. Hes clutching his balls. Clearly he wasnt knocked out, whether you care what anyone says or not.

Sorry no low blow there that I can see. Keep watching it and keep looking and don’t see in that moment (which is the only one that counts). And I do care because maybe I missed something but as many times as I watch it I can’t see it. Either way Dempsey’s left hook wasn’t illegal at all either. We’re there fouls? Yes. Fouling isn’t the most uncommon thing especially back then. But in that moment anyway there was no low blow. It was an excuse not to get up imo.

He lands three low blows in row immediately preceding the left hook to the jaw. If you cant see it you dont want to see it. But your comment waving away fouls is all I need to know that Dempsey could have kicked him in the nuts and you wouldnt care.

I’m not even a Dempsey fan lol don’t particularly care for him one way or the other. But unless his nuts are attached to his belly button that was not a low blow.

Completely independent ( I assure you ) analysis is , Jack did hit Jack ! low, just prior to the left hook that felled Jack ( too many Jacks ) that's what seemed apparent to me , on what I saw. keep well.

Sharkey was not inconsistent when Dempsey beat him.

It happened during a three year 25 fight streak where he beat Risko, Maloney, Godfrey, Wills, McTigure, Stribling and Loughran.

His only loses during this period were to Risko and Dempsey himself.

This Sharkey was a hard man to beat.

Either way, very few champions have beaten somebody how holds the lineal title after them.

You ask me for examples and then provide them.

If a fighter beats somebody who is expected to beat them, then you can hardly deny them credit for it.

Schmeling who saw them all up until his death called Dempsey the best ever.

Yes, dempsey was the big daddy article....despite what some armchair clowns here believe, its not exactly a strecth... Notice how nobody who ever climbed in the ring with dempsey ,to sparr or fight, ever had anything but praise and more often , awe, of this boxer...including schemling

You don’t think Dempsey hit Sharkey with several low blows seconds before the final “knockout punch”?

Unless his belly button is three inches below his belt line Sharkey was hit with three low blows followed by a left hook while he was turning to protest to the referee after losing every round. If you want to give Dempsey some kind of kudos for that and for "beating" and a man he was narrowly expected to lose to more power to you. Im not impressed and surely dont think that makes him a head to head nightmare for anyone much less far more accomplished, technically proficient, bigger, and less protected heavyweights.
