I think he very well may be. He reminds me of a more athletic version of Bernard Hopkins.

He proved against Williard that he could fight aggressively when he had to, and like Hopkins, he would explode in a tight shell defense with quick, short, combinations.

That bodes well for him if he were to fight against the Klitschkos. Additionally, he made a career as a great spoiler against aggressive, strong fighters, so I think he would do well against guys like Tyson and Frazier.

He has a great inside game and an excellent jab.

I think his toughest fight would be against Ali who may be fleet of foot and fast of hands enough to beat Johnson by a decision, but Johnson would land the more telling blows.

Ali would beat him with workrate.

Other than Ali though, I can think of few heavies that would beat him. He would at least be competitive with every fighter in history in my opinion.

Not even top 30... sorry but you're an idiot. He's certainly Top 15 easily IMO and maybe higher.

Why am I being called an idiot? Have none of you seen him fight? And while I understand rounds were longer and he fought with a conservative style, he still dominated and he proved he could throw in combinations and maintain an aggressive defensive style if he had to.

He's got plenty enough size, and he was incredibly strong. On top of that he's got great defense, so why wouldn't he be a head to head nightmare?

You should watch the films yourself. I watched the films which is why I came to this conclusion. He's a great fighter.

I think Williard is being highly underestimated.

Many of the defensive moves that he does were copied by the Klitschkos. Additionaly, he fights similiar to Vitali, but he is more defensive minded. I suppose the similiar lies in the athleticism and confidence in the sense that he'll hold his hands low. His style was a counterpuncher like Wlad, but he had a great chin, unlike Wlad. His punches also weren't as explosive as Wlad's, but similiar to Vitali's IMO.

The Klitschko's are great fighters, but they are not unique. Look at the shoulder rolling techniques they use to deflect punches, then watch Williard in action.

He utilizes the same moves. He blocks and parries punches as well, and he hit hard enough to kill a man.

And what was wrong with the competition? Jack Johnson was one of the best fighters of all time, and so was Jack Dempsey.

In a 12 round fight they both beat him, but he was still a much better champion than given credit for.

Still though, I know haters like to say Williard was garbage and use that to say the Klitschko's were garbage, but reality is none of the fighters were garbage.

Johnson honestly might have been the greatest of all time head to head.

It would be impossible to prove though!

Ive heard and read people saying that Johnson had the
best dfense ever, a very versatile adaptive defense, and
great power and ring iq. The footage I saw looked unimpressive
though. Do you guys think Jack could hang with Foreman, Tyson,
Bowe, Louis, Lewis, etc? Paint me a picture.

It worked for the other two elite defensive fighters that Foreman fought.

Perhaps three times is the charm?
