Is Jack Leow the most overrated trainer that handled a top fighter in recent memory?

If you saw the Hopkins/Pavlik fight and listened to the instructions he gave to Pavlik, you know what i'm talking about. So is there another trainer that handled a top rated fighter in recent memory that was so "exposed" like Leow was?

enzo calzaghe is overrated but won't be "exposed" due to his son's natural talent

I don't think McGirt is overrated. I think he gives his fighters good, solid instructions in between rounds. At least it's more than, "You have to use the double jab" round after round and nothing more. Or "You have to stay busy".

As for Judah, everyone KNEW he sucked from the get go so he can't be overrated.

    he's a part time trainer.

Small time, Pavlik should move on imo, he has probably learned everything he can off of him.

With his height and reach i think he would suit a trainer like Manny steward personally....

its funny how HBO were laughing at manny steward after kelly pavlik knocked out jermaine taylor, steward said before the fight that pavlik and his trainer were not in the same league as jermaine taylor(or something along the lines).

three fights later steward could have not been more correct.

He wasn't rated but he sure talked like he was highly rated the way he talked before the Hopkins fight. Heck, the two Pavlik fights also.

I notice that everytime he talks about a fight, he saids "we" will KO such and such fighter or "we" will have an easy time. It's as if he's talking like he's fighting also. I think that has to do with his arrogance. Well, it got checked in the Hopkins fight, that's for sure.

I'm actually quite concerned about Jack Leow's roll in Kelly's career. Go back to the second Taylor fight. Taylor was ready for the double jab. Damn near everytime Pav tried to double the jab, JT countered with a decent right. On the other hand KP made the single jab work pretty well, and yet, Leow kept screaming at him to "double the ****in' jab!" Fortunately Kelly did not listen.

In the Hopkins fight they knew going in that KP had problems with his left elbow. Couple that with BHop's movement, and Kelly could not make ANY jab work. What did Leow tell him? "Double up on the jab."

So, it is very disturbing to hear Jack Leow repeatedly telling Kelly to do the very thing that doesn't work.

Kelly's relationship with Leow goes back 17 years, and Jack is a big part of Pavlik's stability. I don't think they should dump him, but I do think they need to bring in some outside help. Just as Kelly needs to grow as a fighter, Leow needs to grow as a trainer. The problem is that Jack Leow may very well be to arrogant to realize that.

Well...using the word "we" only means those guys are working together. A lot of trainers (in all sports) use "we".

****ing A, people need to get off Manny Steward's jock. He trains one style; and no, I don't think it would suit Pavlik. Every time you get a taller fighter you hear "he should work with Manny Steward". Maybe Pavlik prefers not to fight like an Octopus?

I would not even call Yoel Judah overrated he was a never was.

Of course it does not help that his son has a Glass Jaw and no heart and is mentally fragile.

Enzo Calzaghe was a great trainer-- he took complete **** fighters like Gavin Rees and enzo mac to world titles.

That's the mark of a great trainer. Something from nothing.
