100% bro science. adds up tho. i watched a documentary about the place tanaka worked a couple days ago so i used it as an example. i agree with you on chins, my point was about long term damage. many people did what tanaka did and got f'd, he's fine. coulda been luck but i think genetics is the reason.
I did not know these wrestlers had a CTE history... Was this guy Tanaka ever out cold due to a "chair strike" ?
not a big wrestling fan so i don't know the answer. massive cte history in that era of pro wrestling. if your bored one day look up a documentary about ecw. it's a weird world that i don't fully understand, but it is interesting for sure.
OK--your point is taken! Obviously you don't become champion without having talent--I get it! But I think LaMotta's toughness and internal fury were greater factors than pure talent alone. (Man if you ever read the book "Raging Bull" that guy lived a VERY tormented life! A LOT of "inner demons." I think that drove him as much as anything!!) I think the book is more powerful than the movie--you really feel the pain LaMotta carried inside of him for so many years! It's not really an "inspirational" story--it's a lot more tragic!!
There are several MWs that are less celebrated than LaMotta that I would favor over him or at least give a good shot at beating him. I think Freddie Steele could probably control him w/ long range powerpunches in the manner that Marshall reportedly did, Dick Tiger could outfight him on the inside the way that Villemain did, & Emile Griffith would have a 50-50 shot to outbox him in the way Zivic or Hudson did.
