no i don't think so, jirov was overhyped, Mccallum really won two of the fights, the reggie johnson fight could have went either way, he got his ass beat by somebody named dave tiberi, steroids,Drake thadzi,

    of course he is.

to those who say he is not top 50......please name the kind of guys you're putting ahead of him. Outside top 20 I can accept...outside top 50 begins to sound stupid.

He fought most of his career and was prime at 160 and 168 fighting top guys. He never ducked or ran.
Last we saw of him he was more than holding his own against full blown heavies. Don't give us that drugs bull****.

How many middleweight went up to and could handle heavies? Roy Jones did once.
could Monzon have? Hagler? We know Hopkins would never have the balls to fight Sam Peter, Holyfield etc.

What the hell do you mean "Don't give us that drugs bull****"?
He took illegal drugs and got caught cheating, no ifs or buts, he was cheating, taking performance enhancing drugs, end of. No getting out of it.
He got caught and was punished accordingly.

well firstly there are big doubts about the tests.
He was passed clean after other fights at heavy where he looked better. Agianst Ruiz and Baltacher he looked ****...especially against the latter.
He should be judged on the whole career.

how many others have tester positive? Vitali, Vargas for starters. what baout Jones and Mosley?

Indeed, he is somewhere between 60-70 in my opinion... He was the man until Roy got him.

It's irrelevant how he looked in other fights, the fact is, he failed the drug tests. Therefore he cheated. He's a cheat. I'm not saying that reflects on his early career but it casts doubt on his heavyweight accomplishments imo.

And just because other fights did it doesn't mean Toney should get off the hook for his cheating ways.

fair enough. It just annoys me how people get on Toney's case, calling him a cheat and at the same time make out ****s like Vitali are good as gold.
Toney last looked really good against Holyfield and he passed clean then.
I wonder how many fighters are totally clean? Not many I guess.

It's hard to say, I guess if Toney took steroids for his fight with Evander, it would have evened things out! :yep

I bet alot of fighters take steroids, too many we would want to think about. Generally, boxing probably has the best drug testing in sports due to the nature of the other competitors health and the seriousness of it.
I would also say, the lower you come down the weight classes the less likely it is for the lighter weight fighters to take steroids.

but toney had those wasted years.

from 96 to 2001 he did virtually nothing.

except box club fighters defending wbu titles.

and u slag hatton off. :yep

even in his prime he was getting away with decisions.

he looked good against jirov and holyfield and then got fat again. :patsch

yeah he had those dark years....but his record is still littered with wins over top fighters from 160 to heavy and nobody can take that away. Yes he could have been even better had he been more dedicated.

getting away with decisons? like which? the 2 Griffin fights, most thought he got robbed. Toney did have the habit of fighting to the level of his opp, that was mainly down to conditioning I guess.

To those that started watching boxing in 2003 when he became a heavyweight, perhaps not.

If you watch his entire career, he certainly is.
