Is James Toney an ATG?

True. But in a very close fight where one combatant ran the last few rounds (effectively altering what might have been), I have no qualms with the decision. He didn't deserve to win. Actually neither did.

Yeah man. Solid resume, most of his losses are due to him being a fat lazy ******* but he is a great fighter.

 

Definitely an ATG, though the failed PED tests hurt his legacy a lot.
The point is, he already was an ATG even before he started roiding.

Toney is an old-school fighter with an old-school resume - he fought the best available opponents in each division he was at (except for the Klitschkos at HW), won most and lost some (I know, even some fights against mediocre opposition when he had a bad night). Most old-school fighters have that kind of resume. If Toney isn't an ATG, then a lot of old time ATGs aren't.
You can argue that he should've lost that fight with Dave Tiberi, but then again he got robbed himself more than once too.

Toney, on his best night, was one of the most skilled technical boxers to ever lace em up. And I mean ever. Even more for boxers from MW upwards.

And besides that, he always was one of the very toughest fighters to lace em up, and he still is, shot as he is now. His record speaks for itself.

A great great talent, who never reached his full potential because of all these wrong decisions he made. An underachiever, but his resume is still great though.

 

Believe what you want. No one who spends round after round running deserves to win anything in my eyes.

 

Amazing boxer. Kind of disrespected the sport by not turning up at the weight and not really caring.he was happy to give the opponent a few dollars more as a penalty. I love his style but I just don't know if that constitutes all time greatness. I dont think moving up in weight just coz you got fatter is that admirable. I'm undecided.he is one of my favorate boxers style wise.

 

well i consider top 100 to be ATG and he definitely makes it top 75 imo
