Is James Toney an ATG?

    Your description of Toney as the most technically skillful fighter since Joe Gans seems bang on the money for me.

    Yes he is an ATG, but a little over rated by some.

    I can live with that.:rofl

    On topic, I could watch Toney fights all day long, even when it is obvious he was more interested in junk food than training in the build ups. He had a relaxed smoothness that only the ATG's have.

    Yeah he probably would've beaten Jones had he prepared properly.

    No. Jones was simply too fast for him. Toney was never busy enough to beat an allusive speed merchant like prime Jones. Toney was best countering, especially off the ropes. Prime Jones simply wouldn't give him enough countering opportunities.

    Only chance would be if Roy fought a dumb fight and chose not to use his legs (think Leonard-Duran I).
