Toney has looked downright horrible for the last few years. I don't know why anyone would care to see him fight. If you love that style so much, start following new CW beltholder Ola Afolabi, who is all kinds of shades of fat JT.
James Toney is your father, and Bernard's as well. Fatso Sam got lucky. King James is YOUR NABO/IBA Heavyweight Champion, and he doesnt have to fight a mandatory for a few more months.
I agree - signing with King would almost certainly translate into a shot at some version of the WBA belt at this point...
James Toney is the penultamut fighter that also represents what is wrong with the mentality of the big guys today. Too ****in lazy! Eddie Chambers, Sam Peter, James Toney.. these are just some of the examples of guys who leave so much on the table because they never come into the ring in thier best physical shape. Fatasses... other then Butterbean who's natural bodytype was fatass.. are hard to promote.
Sounds fine to me. But he should wait until Valuev gets his Sasquatch looking ass handed to him by Ruslan Chagaev. And Ruiz needs to grow or borrow some balls and face Toney in a rematch. :smoke
I wouldn't be surprised if Toney fought again. I would be surprised, though, if he fought a meaningful fight again. He may have some Danny Batchelder's left in him, but that's about it. The luster of Toney in the heavyweight division wore off after the first Rahman fight, and the interest in him disappeared after that no-show in the second Peter fight.
Yes, Toney should sign with Don King and go after the WBA title. I give him a chance against the Valuev and Chagaev but not against the Klits at this point. But Dan Goossen is doing absoluely nothing for Toney at this point. Just waiting, what is he waiting for, Toney is 40 for christ sake !!! A recent video of James showed that he is relatively good shape and has not balloned up.
Then he would be fighting once and then a 5 year layoff, Don Kings fighters are the most inactive fighters around they only fight when another promoter contact don king to allow his fighter to box, the mayority of time outside the usa.
