is jeff lacy retired yet?

well, the guy is only 30. its just the writing is on the wall to beating him. like kessler and pavlik, if you are a fast elusive boxer you can trash him. he's just far too limited for the world stage. he has average power at LHW, and would more than likely have mediocre power at cruiserweight. and dropping down to SMW is suicidal considering the fact he would be weight drained and the divison is stacked with dangerous fighters. so seeing as he wont achieve championship status again, he'll probably fight clubbers simply to pay bills and stay in shape.

 

he's probably hanging out with Hatton and Cotto right now, and there probably hmmmmm...........................eating!

 

lacy is another example of a fighter who had endless potential but was poorly trained. his style is simple, move forward and punch. he could probably get away with his tactics if he were a natural born heavyweight, but in a division where there are fast, athletic intelligent and even stronger fighters, lacy is simply out of place. you could make a case if lacy was a knockout artist with devastating power in both hands with a lack of boxing skills, but he isn't even that. people consider lacy a power puncher when in reality he doesn't hit all that hard, i honestly wouldn't be too suprised if dawson can hit harder than him. and i think we can all agree he doesn't hit harder than cloud. so i think the question is whats next for lacy?? where does he go from here? the more i think about it, i think retirement might be the best option for him at this point.

 

Hes not the same and I dont know what it is. His speed is terrible but its his reflexes and reaction time thats the worse. He cant land anything now but pre calzaghe he never had any problems connecting on decent competition.

I dont know how much of it is shoulder surgery and how much of it is mental but it doesnt make sense because he looks the same as you said. Hes always in great shape and it seems like he stays healthy outside the ring, stamina and conditioning isnt an issue and hes still young. His timing is just **** these days.

 

Why? Jeff Lacy isn't a world class fighter, but he isn't trash either. No need to retire

 

well..i never liked jeff,before calazaghe,he always ,after a fight ,did his antics of a crazy killer,you know,the slice of throat,the i'm on top of the world,no one can beat me....anyways i thought calazaghe was too much for him and i was right...before he fought rj,he said that boxing sucked and it was a mafia and what not(quote me on that)....but as a human being,i hope he retires because he's been getting beat up,he can always be a bodyguard for the stars,or even try a carreer at mma,because he is an professional athlete and all.

 

Lacy retired the moment the final bell rang in the Calzaghe fight.

 

he is good. but his hype got him into a position which he couldnt escape. he is/was better than some people think. now he is becoming a shell. he doesnt love the sport and if he did his managment is forcing him into positions he doesnt want.

he has had lucky scrapes for almost 3 years every single fight he had has been him looking awful/get rocked/lose but not on the cards/lose on the cards/get stopped.

awful footwork as well.

 

big loopy, sloppy punches, that you can see coming a miles away + mma = destoyer.

liddell is a very sloppy puncher but got the job done with it. lacy can bang just doesnt have the skills to take his opponant apart or box for openings. or tysonesque swarm and retreat motion....plod foreward throw right hand hope for th ebest and clinch and repeat.

 

Lacy stays in shape, he's prolly just chillin out right now...probably needs a new trainer...either way RJJ did something very foul to him in that ring:admin thats an old fashion beatdown
