Is Jim Jeffries criminally underrated today?

    Not particularly, but I can see why people thought that he was better than he was at the time.
    It says that observers were afraid that he would injure himself, which implies that he lifted it.
    If it was written in a contemporary newspaper, by somebody who was in his camp, then that is a primary source.

    That is the summit of the mountain, in terms of a source for this era.

    I honestly think that Jeffries might have done better against Johnson, if he had come in with a bit of surplus fat, like Fury against Wilder.

    He'd have done better to have a couple of warm ups and some sparring with younger men than the relics he used,that's for sure.You've given me an idea for a thread J!
