Is Jimmy Wilde the hardest puncher p4p ever? UPDATED WITH JIMMY WILDE FOOTAGE

yeah defiantly, I never understood why most historians rate Wilde over him, I've always had a higher opinion of Lynch as a fighter and would defiantly favour him in a Hd 2 Hd match up.

 

P4P I can see Wilde with the edge. Lucky for him, his most notable opponent was an ATG bantam in Joe Lynch. Benny pissed some of his prime away, was supposedly gifted the 2nd Kane fight and fizzled out as a Bantam. But as a Fly they're well matched IMO. We have footage of Lynch at his peak against Palmer and Brown and he looks sublime and devastating.

 

As for McGovern, yes, him as well. I've always wondered why the **** Gans kept getting up? That was a win IMO.

 

Yeah defiantly Lynch along with Turpin are the two biggest british examples of fighters never maximising there talents. they are already great, but could of achieved so much more if they had stayed focused and hunger.

 

I think its very hard to judge fighters before the 1930s footage as it literally impossible to get at least ten full fights of theres.


If i were to included from say 1930 onwards, thats a good 80 plus years.

But the guys with real freaky one punch knock, as in not stopped by the ref or a bunch of punches is Julian Jackson, G. Foreman, Shavers and Herns...the bodies just slumped down.

 

The trouble with Wildes record is that alot of his opponents records are incomplete. Its difficult to say with any certainty; Who the hardest hitter was but he must be up near the top. I also rate him as the best flyweight and interms of British Greats; I have him rated higher than Lynch, Ted Lewis, Moran, Driscoll, Berg and Welsh.

Wilde is for sure a harder hitter than Williams, Frazier and Tyson IMO. Dont really think Frazier belongs in that class, whereas Wilde fits in with all these names as a puncher.

Lynch is an awesome fighter, one of my favrouites.

Nah, I think Turpin, with his win over Robinson, far extended his talents.

Can't see how " Wilde is for sure a harder hittter " than Ike Williams, Ike was a lethal puncher and was able to drop Kid Gavilan who outweighed him by a huge amount and who had one of the greatest chins in history.

I stand by Tyson being a harder puncher and Frazier's power is underrated and he was the first man to ever stop George Chuvalo.

I disagree completely Turpin never maintained the form he showed between 1951 - 52, he clearly wasn't the same fighter after that period.

Fair enough on Williams and Tyson they are borderline for me, butWilde definitly belongs in that class.

Fraziers power might be underrated, generally, but you cant place him in the top tier of punchers ever. Its blatantly not the case. I'd say someone like Avelar or Arbachakov has more business being there.

I'm saying someone with Turpins talent had no business beating Ray Robinson, so he did over-achieve. I also agree he dropped off after that, but I don't see that as a sign of underachieving

I'd agree. Ijust dont see Frazier as an elite puncher in any form.
