Is JMM still fighting David Diaz prior to Pac?

If so, how can any deal be signed prior to the outcome of JMM's next fight? What if JMM get's Judah'd? Or what if he just looks like crap against Diaz? Surely that will kill any hype for a showdown with Pac in November?

I am answering this just because I figure there is no way he will risk a cut and other issues before fighting Pacman. Pacman sure is handpicking his opponents.

The fight is a no go if JMM loses. That's in the contract. Not much harm in a tuneup, JMM will have rust to shake off. If he does look poor, it would take some of the luster off the fight, but it's really hard to look bad against David Diaz.

If he looks bad against Diaz then a fight with Pac would be 100% certain!

Allegedly he's taking the fight with Diaz. The contract states he can take a fight up until July 17th. Arum has said though, he loses, he's out.
I wouldn't do it if I was JMM, that's risking a big payday, every fight is risky no matter what, so its a big chance no matter how much he will be favored to win. Even a bad cut in a victory could keep him out of the Pac fight.
I understand he doesn't want to be rusty and he is coming to win the Pac fight, unlike Mosley, but maybe the old unsanctioned fight with head gear and a real referee trick in the gym would be a better idea for a tune up?????

If he looks bad or loses then obviously he doesn't deserve the fight. I don't get when people ask this. If you lose to a lower level caliber of opponent, you certainly wouldn't have made it against your hype-partner.

Also, JMM probably risks injury more driving his car around and crossing the street than he does in a boxing ring against most human beings in the history.

I'm sure he doesn't want to sit out for a year before a fight as significant as this. If he loses to Diaz then it's a shame but it also proves he would have had no business in the ring with Pac.

    JMM wants it in Mexico.

Diaz poses little threat to JMM. He's a lefty and will give JMM some rounds which he feels he needs so I think this fight is a good idea for JMM. Of course JMM could lose but its highly unlikely and I guess he could suffer a cut of sorts but if the fight is in July then he'd have about 4 months to heal which should be plenty of time. JMM will probably win a lopsided decision over Diaz or possibly a later round stoppage and the Pacquaio fight won't be effected at all.

For that to happen, Marquez would have to pull a Lopez, and that is not happening.

JMM will probably stop Diaz but wont look anywhere as dominant as Pac did, Im guessing Arum wants him to look good to further hype the fight and make a comparison between what Pac did and JMM did to a common opponent.

Soto beat Diaz comfortably but Diaz made it ugly.

I like David Diaz, but he's not got a chance of beating JMM, JMM is going put a hurting on him.
