I have been reading a lot of threads here, saying that the Pac/JMM trilogy is about to be made. Now . . . before that happens, I want to hear and see opinions if JMM is still considered in his prime at this point. An honest question. So keep the discussion sensible and please vote.
slightly past prime, he can easily be at the top in the lightweight division I think, dont know about 140 and above
He's past his physical prime, but I think he's learned a thing or two and added a bit to his arsenal. He's more prone to making mistakes and getting hit nowadays but he's also shown an adaptation to fighting pressure fighters.
Well he fought very competitively vs mab and pac (top two at super feather) then moved up and dominated lightweight. Has he ever been this good before? I'd say 07- present is the best marquez we've ever seen. Yes he got dominated off floyd and I thought he'd lost it, but his performance with kats convinced a lot of us. Would like to see him against guerrero and soto to be certain. I'd say mab to diaz was definitely prime marquez. Need to see him against more quality opposition to be certain if he's still there.
True he is prone to getting hit, but he is no longer the passive counter puncher that he is. He now opens up and attack reason why he is no longer the boring fighter that fans boooeed a lot.
Hes still an elite fighter but not as slick or as fast. Yes he is past his prime, but seemed to pick up moe of a punchers mentality since slowing down.. HEs getting hit more but hes hitting harder or at least has carried his power up.
He's on the decline. He lost the pop he used to have. When he built up muscle in the Floyd fight, his speed slowed down. But great to see him beat Kats, Diaz, Casa.
