No, I'm talking about fighters at very specific points in their career. Groves under Booth vs. Last night's Eubank.

And I'm talking about ridiculous claims like 'Groves will have a field day'.

Comparing individual attributes is difficult, but what we know is this: Groves is proven to fall short in world class company. His engine is poor and he loses composure easily. Now even if he spends the first 6 rounds jabbing CEJs head off, if Eubank is still there and still mobile he has enough to make it incredibly close by the end. Groves has proved this, Eubank showed it against BJS.

Now... What do I think will happen? I think CEJ gets inside the Groves jab early and finishes GG in 5-6. People are hung up on CEJs lack of power, but he doesn't need one punch KO power against Groves as Groves' biggest weakness time and again has been shown to be accumulation.

So is Eubank. Fought 1 world level fighter and lost. Groves has wins over the likes of DeGale, Murray, Chudinov. All are miles better than any Eubank win. He also floored Froch which demonstrated his underrated power.

This is the same Eubank who went life and death with Renald Quinlan just a few months ago. Eubank has zero power to hurt a big 168lb like Groves.

Eubank went life and death with Quinlan? Are you sure? This is exactly the kind of ridiculous claim I'm talking about. It does nobody any favours in the argument.

And how long has Groves' power been underrated? He's known for having fairly heavy hands.

Do you actually follow boxing? It's bizarre. No balance or nuance to your argument, just ridiculous claims and vague 'facts'.

When it comes down to it, I don't really care who wins. I think it's going to be a great fight for however long it lasts, and most definitely not a walkover for either guy, regardless of who comes out on top. All the signs point to Eubank for me. But whatever.

To err is only human 20....:)
Just thinking...be pretty amazing if ANY fighters JAB was harder than gggs right!

CEJ is much improved isn't he? He now fights the full round for a start. His defence is a lot slicker too. His offence is still basically flurries of hooks...and of course one day he will meet someone that this isn't going to be sufficient against...but you have to admire such an improving fighter IMO...cheers.

All the signs? What signs? That we've got an unproven at world level career middleweight up against a huge SMW who is a current world champion?

But you follow these "signs" if you want. Just make sure you're on here the night Groves takes Eubank to school to revisit your thinking.

You need to move on from the bjs fight. Cej has . Today's cej is a very much improved fighter, he would almost certainly beat..possibly even hammer ...bjs if they fought today.

Yo need to keep up with his progress and stop fixating on the bjs fight. You do realise he has progressed, right? Hmmmm?

He has progressed and fought nobody anywhere near Saunders' level if that's what you mean. In fact, he's not fought a single boxer with ring IQ since then. His opponents have all been carefully selected thick domestic plodders like Spike, Blackwell and then a shot to bits Abraham etc who will just stand in the centre of the ring and let CEJ tee off at will against them.

The facts are there that since the BJS fight Eubank has avoided his kryptonite, i.e. good movers and fighters with proper ring IQ like the plague.

He has improved mate, yes, without a doubt, every aspect of his game. This a man (and his mad dad) who is totally dedicated to boxing, who lives the life. He’s great for boxing, he gets people watching him either to admire his work or to hope to see him beaten.

I think you’re definitely right about there being opponents that his style won’t be sufficient against...I’ve always argued that a fighter with quality movement causes him huge problems. I think Groves has that style. But what I will say is that he will never be out of a fight like those 6-8 rounds with BJS. Then days are now gone. Anyone who gets in with him, even if they win, will go life and death with him for 12 rounds.

But WHO do you have in mind? Who are these slick moving skilful. Boxers that he is avoiding like the plague? Name them.

Jacobs and BJS for starters, he was in great positions to fight both and avoided them like the plague because of their style. Add to this of course wasting everyone's time by pretending he wanted GGG as well but fought Tom Doran instead

I heard a sparring story a while back that GGG and groves had a session and groves went home crying, Martin Murray is talking out his hoop.

Murray’s been punched by both of them so he’ll know better than anyone mate.

Groves didn’t put Murray on the floor officially @lencoreastside however he should have done in the 10th. Murray went down to his knees at the same time as the bell went. The ref let him get away with the count strangely.

Murray tried to walk him down in that fight and let Groves unload on his head guard with the theory that Groves would gas. He didn’t though and Groves carried on boxing his head off. He really punished Murray in that fight.

Ironically enough, Martin Murray described that sparring session in good detail in his press conference with groves.
