Is Joe C the best European Fighter Ever ?

Even as a huge Calzaghe fan I'd say it is not feasible with one fight remaining. Hypothetically, wins over Pavlik and especially Dawson given his age and deteriorating skills would put him on par with the two Lewis's. Fitzsimmons and Wilde are probably out of reach considering they are top 30 on my ATG list

 

I dont think it is possible for Calzaghe to be rated higher then Lennox Lewis.

Lennox lewis has one mighty resume.

World Amateur champion
Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist
Olympic Games Gold Medallist.Defeating Riddick Bowe.

Throw in his Notable Pro victories.

Tyson,Holyfield,Tua,Klitscko(i know very disputed by some),Bruno,Botha,Mercer,Morrison,McCall,Rahman,Ruddock,Mason,Biggs,Tucker and Galota to name a few pretty decent fighters.

Yes he suffered two massive upset defeats though later avenged those with the Rahman fight being in devastating fashion.

Compare Calzaghe's Resume.

Lacy,Reid,Eubank,Bika,Veit,Brewer,Kessler and Hopkins being his notable victories.

As im a neutral(aussie)and prettymuch not a fan of either fighters Lennox Lewis's accomplishments in the fightgame be that Amateur/Pro is awesome.

I quess some would put Calzaghe above Lewis as he is currently on everyones mind and Lennox is yesterdays hero,but **** Lennox fought and beat plenty of tough opposition.

Joe ofcourse is going to retire a british,european and world boxing great but has maybe left it to late to clip Lennox,Fitzsimmons as the greatest euro of all.

Unfortunetly Joe doesnt really have too many options other then getting a big pay day fighting a 5plus years past it roy jones junior or a very tough slugger in Kelly pavlik.
