Why do people persist on not giving Calzaghe the credit he derserves? Calzaghe is a far superior fighter than Ricky Hatton, Joe beat the best in SMW and LHW. He beat everybody he ever fought and was a world champion for over 20 fights, if thats not an all-time great then nobody is.
Yes, Calzaghe beat a over-the-hill Jones and was knocked down by him but other than the first round he destroyed him, and I think the fight should have be stopped. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, but at the time everybody said Hopkins was past it and should have fought Pavlik, but when Pavlik got schooled by Hopkins they all shut up.
People also seem to forget that other than Jones and Hopkins he also beat Eubank, Lacy, Kessler, Bika and Reid. All who are fighter who range from good to world class boxers.
Joe Calzaghe is an ATG end of story.

Hatton, like Pacquiao, made the move overseas to fight the best fighters available and make major fights happen. Calzaghe was more worried about money when he was an unknown and only made the move at the right time. He's definitely an ATG but if it wasn't for Kessler and Lacy deciding to move with their major titles and make the fights happen you think these fights would have happened?, they would have slipped away like a fight with Jones did or Hopkins when they were in their primes.

I don't think the author of the thread is comparing styles, I mean it doesn't take brains to see both are completely different. What he's discussing here is the will to make major fights.

Alright listen and listen good ....everybody listening.....?? Calzaghe only fought 2 GREAT fighters in his whole career and one was past his prime and the other one was badly shot for the past 4 years....

A past prime Hopkins ended Joes undefeated streak in 08..Lemme just get that out of the way

A badly shot RJ still manage to hurt and drop Joe in the VERY 1ST ROUND!!! THE 1ST ROUND!!! Dat tells u right there what would happened if Roy was in his prime...

And no Joe has never defeated a "Great" in their "Prime" which Hopkins and Jones has done many times and thats one the reason they are Hall of Famers and both considered one of the greatest fighters of all time...

Sadly I have to speak the truth..but Joe is nowhere near close to even being called a "Great" :verysad

You're saying Eubank is a nobody? Sure he was already way past it when Joe beat him but he sure wasn't a nobody in his prime.

Hatton was exposed as having a fragile Glass Jaw against elite competition something a lot of British fighters possess.

Calzaghe was an ATG who retired undefeated and never suffered the embarrassing KO losses Hatton did.
