Fight Hopkins in a rematch and beat him clearly, and we'll talk about it.

I think anyone who think JC isn't an ATG is a deluded biased fool.

what is it now 11yrs and 21 defenses and still unbeaten? Who else in history came close to that? How can any sane person disput his ATG status?

How old was Hopkins really when he can beat up Kelly like he did. Bad excuse. Age was clarly not the reason why Hopkins lost to Calzaghe.

It doesn't really matter what you think of Joe.

With his record, he HAS to be an ATG.

God theres some severely deluded ****ing idiots on here ...saying that Calzaghe isn't an all time great because he didn't beat Bernard Hopkins (which he did)....everything that you throw at Calzaghe is mirrored in Hopkins career....their records, careers, late bloomers, everything apart from the fact that Calzaghe actually comes to fight for 12 rounds and more or less every SMW he fought was actually a SMW .....Hopkins fought a lot of blown up WW's..
Anyway...even scratch Hopkins out of his record and he is still an all time great!
Hopkins had 20 defences at MW, quite an achievment, fair ****s to him....nothing special on his resume at that weight though if your applying the same logic to Calzaghe!

No. In my own rankings, I have 7 categories and Joe falls just short of category 2 "Great", and fits into category 3 "Very Good". For me, his resume simply isn't good enough to be considered an ATG.

    IMO.

Of course he is an ATG... 21 defences at 168... 46-0... best British boxer of the televised era`s... a 2 weight champ (175 title also)

Dont forget that he is also a very talented boxer... anyone who says no to the thread question is just picking holes & being biased because he is probably the no1 p4p at the moment also.

You can even pick reasons why Ray Robinson should not be the greatest if you tried hard enough because nobody is perfect so anyone can say what they want but it wont change the 0 on his record & thats what hurts the haters most.

Ps. I really really enjoyed the Jones fight, it was great.

To me legends are people like Ray Robinson, Hagler, Ali, Duran or more recently Tyson even - so he's not a legend in my eyes.

If legend equates to just getting in the Hall of fame, then yes he is.
