yes, best SMW of all time, one of few men to win all belts in division, first joint 2 weight division ring champion. beat ATG hopkins moving up in weight, fighting in america for the first time with cortez as referee. dominated prime lacy, only man so far to beat kessler, jones'd jones. that with the amount of title defenses and staying undefeated being just shy of marciano's record does it for me.

Taking ATG to mean top 100 P4P fighters of all time, yes. He's not brilliant, though, as he only really has one convincing ATG-making performance on his record.

I think he is and I am often accused of hating British fighters here.

kessler unproven still has beat no one. jeff lacy never was great at all only hype lost to lesser fighters. hopkins still effective but 43 years old and it was a contraversal win that he slapped his way to victory. Roy jones shot to hell a shell of him self this fight should not even be mentioned as a credibal win he is so shot. one of the best smw ever but jones was a better smw weight when he fought their. Am i just a hater or is this true?

    Agreed:yep

It ai'nt Joe's fault he could'nt get Sven "The Octopussy" Ottke out ov Germany or Roy Jones out ov the States or fight-em in their own country's when it mattered 2 claim the mantle as the undisputed guv'ner.

Ofcourse! Lacy, Joe gave this young upcomming star one of the biggest onesided ass whoopings in the history of boxing! Kessler, Joe faced the "second" best and the most dangerous fighter in 168, and was on his way to get his ass kicked, but adabted and change his style under pressure and took a convincingly UD in the last 6 rounds! Hopkins, this fight could only be ugly.. two old experienced fighters who have seen all there is to see in ring, and both with a very special and dirty style, but Joe once again adapted and took the win in last half of the fight! if that doesn`t make a fighter ATG.. I dont know what does!
