Racism is a difficult issue at the best of times. Historically, nearly all the greatest boxers have been dark (or darkish) skinned. Sugary Ray Robinson, Floyd Mayweather Junior, Cassius Clay, Ray Leonard, Joe Louis etc.. all black. Joe Calzaghe was pure white. A two weight world champion for over a decade, he managed to retire unbeaten at 46-0. Is Joe Calzaghe, the greatest pound for pound, white, boxer of all time. Discuss.
No. . . I'm guessing you don't know a lot about past fistic eras? Otherwise you'd have heard of a man named Edward Henry "Harry" Greb. . . I'd say 30-40% of the best 50 boxers of all time are white.
Not true at all. Hell Marciano, Greb, Tunney, Duran, Lopez, Lamotta, Dempsey, Chavez, Pep, etc. I can play that game too.
you're opening up a can of worms, an ignorant, unnecessary one at that, but in no way in hell is he the greatest white boxer ever. there are a host of Americans who supersede him, and that's the truth. Eubank was old, Lacy was trash, jones was shot with an ak47, reid was bleh, his greatest win was bernard hopkins, and that was proven after the fact. for the most part, he slapped his way to success, he slapped sorry sacks of **** into submission.
:huh Why not? I admit my knowledge of boxing history isn't that great. That's why I made this thread to see if I'm right. He's got a long way to go but he's already better than de la Hoya ever was IMO. His win over Mosley (albeit slightly past it) proved that to me. But this is P4P. I'll look him up.
