I wouldn't argue with removing Lynch. Freddie Welsh could very well deserve a place. Beat Leonard once, and was competitive another time. Charley White a couple times. Beat Driscoll, albeit above his best weight and contraversially.

About 95% of his threads are about Joe C, so I think it's a safe bet.

He is very good but he isnt the best brit ever.Lennox Lewis, naz and Ricky Hatton are all better than Joe and i would rather watch Benn anytime than one of Calzaghe`s 12 rounders.

Nope. Marciano isn't the greatest American boxer ever just because he retired undefeated, why should Calzaghe be rated the best brit ever?

If he wouldn't had waited to long to fight bernard hopkins and roy jones jr I would have said yes, but waiting for these guys to get old, doesn't sit well for me.

Lewis as good as he was , he was a heavyweight and he couldn't do everything that Joe could . Yes Lewis had great timing power and a good jab...

But was he technically a better fighter than calazghe.. no chance

But if you want a list of the best fighters from the UK then many of the household names on everybody lists wouldn't even make the top ten and would have to be replaced by the likes of Benn, naz , froch because they we're warmongers.

Technically calazghe was the best in my eyes..

All these fighters before 1940 I don't think should count because they were basically fighting men who had had a few pints and fish and chips before the fight, totally different sport back then.

Benn btw was cool and Gerald had promised to kill him at weight ins and get small lesson.
I love dogs and animal rights therefore this is additional reason to love Nigel Benn and worship his work in the ring vs Gerald.
Not only this. Nigel was nice guy I think.

Joe was an awesome fighter, lightning fast and fitter than a butchers dog and tough as old boots. His was a very, very clever fighter. You couldn’t argue if he made no 1 spot. Even on a bad night, he never looked in trouble.

No because he was a 2 weight champ, unified all the belts WBC,IBF,WBO,WBA, and Ring magazine belt, no because he went over 10 years as champion, longest reining champ at SM in history, no because he successfully defended his title 20 times, no because he won all 45 fights with 35 KOs, yea the guy was average wasn't he, not only was he the best British, he was prob the best EU fighter of all time, had he been a yank, they would have him up there with SRR, Armstrong, etc, don't get it ? . keep well buddy.

    No.

Lennox is still in front, Hatton has a better signature win, and Joe hasn't got an elite name in their prime on his resume.

No way is Hatton up there with the likes of Calzaghe, Buchanan, Wilde, Lennox Lewis, Ted Kid Lewis

The win over Tyszu > Any of Joe's wins.

    Not in my view

Zags win over Hopkins, over in US was better in my view, especially seeing what Hopkins went on to do after - clowning Pavlik that many were tipping to be the one to stop Joe.

I'd also say that Kessler is arguably better than Hatton's win over Tszyu as well, given the manner of it - Kosta was most deffo past prime, whereas Mikkel was prime and Joe was past-prime.

Also IMO Hatton got away with blue murder that night against Tszyu - low blows, rabbit punches and elbows - it was not a clean victory and if this was elsewhere Hatton would have been deducted at least one point and the fight might have went differently.
