He took a fair few clean heavy punches from Kessler in that fight particularly in rounds 4,7 and 12.Joe has been floored in the first round of in each of his last two fights against Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones

Do you think Mikkel Kessler's right hand damaged Calzaghe's chin.:think

No, he was flash KD'd by Mitchell and Salem years before he fought Kessler, Hopkins and RJJ

Its not his chin, Calzaghe only gets hurt when he doesn't see the punch coming.

He's been caught cold chinned in his last 2 fights, nothing to worry about.

Forearms hit harder than boxing gloves.

I'm not suggesting his chin was damaged by Kessler, but I think it is possible.

Do you have splinters in your arse from the fence you're sitting on?

He tends to get caught easily. Against Bernard, you had a real sharp, on the button style puncher and got him off balance and pushed him to the ground.

Against Roy, well, Roy was looking pretty damn good for the first three rounds, had speed and power advantages and made them count. I think he relaxed a little too much after he hurt Calzaghe and perhaps he believed Calzaghe would punch himself to a stand still.

But hell, those little mosquito bite punches he lands pile up and make you real tentative about throwing, especially as the fight goes on like it did in this one.

I just think Calzaghe has a style that is absolutely hard to figure out and if you don't figure it out early and counter it, you're bit by bit broken down and worn out until you can't do anything but defend.

calzaghe has always got up before 2-3 count...the hopkins KD was a light punch + calzaghe of balance and mostly hopkins pushing him down to make sure. the jones knockdown was a definite forearm. if you see how many times after hopkins and jones hit him with clean hard punches calzaghe just shook them off.

That was the first time in any time he's gone down that I thought he was actually hurt, because he wasn't quickly bouncing back up to his feet and seemed to have a little dizziness afterwards.

But he proved his chin when he took that uppercut and just kept throwing.

It hasn't changed at all. It isn't granite, but its very good. Roy whilst completely devoid of stamina and work rate, is still physically very strong. He landed a solid shot that Calzaghe didn't see coming, and it hurt him. To his credit he got up and came back strong, like he always does. Calzaghe also hasn't ever fought anyone with the timing that Hopkins has, Calzaghe practically threw his face at Hopkins lead right hand and still got up.

hi was hurt but having a foraem to the nose will do that to you.

yes i think his chin is a bit weaker than it was but when it warms up and he see's the punch then it i world class that uppercut was brutal and he held his chin out and took 3 shots to it and did not flinch
