After his recent blunders I haven't seen him, is he retiring or is he just not being given the big fights now?
Very doubtful. I believe I've seen him ref recently. What recent blunder in particular are you referring to. People don't really consider Hatton/Mayweather an egregious blunder, so which one are you specifically talking about.
Oh, wow, I didn't realize the Soto fight was so recent. I wouldn't mind if he's not working anymore. I've seen him ref some pretty good fights though, imo, but he completely ****ed up that Soto fight.
Joe "BREAK!" Cortez He comes from the school of thought that boxers should never touch except the 4 inch oval at the end of a boxing glove.
Joe used to be one of the very best in the buisness but hes been struggling lately it may be best to atleast take some time off.
He reffed one of the undercard fights in Pacquiao/DLH. Cortez is becoming very inconsistent and should step down from the big fights.
Yeah I mean I was cheering on Mayweather in his fight with Hatton (although I am British I hate Ricky Hatton) and I thought that he was breaking them up way too often, and then in the Hopkins v Calzaghe fight he was letting Hopkins clinch constantly, inconsistancy which could raise eyebrows about him helping American fighters.
Wow didn't realize he was 18-1 as a pro. He did go overboard against Hatton, i think that was because Hatton's style had preceded him and joe wanted to stamp his authority on the fight, Unfortunately he ruined the fight because it was scrappy as hell.
Cortez has a proven history of quality and class. I do believe however that he has become a pawn of the promoters as of late. He'll call a fight how the promoters want it called now. In the Hatton/Mayweather fight no referee could've saved Ricky.
