In all honesty, I was extremelly dissapointed with the 64 years old Joe Cortez, oneof the great Ref of this era without a doubt...but his last two fights he has left himself exposed that maybe age is getting to him....his desicion making is not as clear as they once were...

Last Night, Joe COrtez, embarrased himself and boxing...with a misconception and bias Refering of the fight, were he was not able to be in control, he was no mlonger fair nor tought....

    Agreed

Before people actually start claiming this is an excuse, nearly all Hatton fans have acknowledged Floyd would have won comfortably anyway

He ruined it as a spectacle

Cortez robbed Hatton of his only chance to win.....I scored the fight closer than the Judges, but I was not dissapointed with the score cards of the judges I clearly see their methodology..but Cortez refering catered to this methodology...very poor and bias Refereing, plus he was not able to control the fight at any time

I had the fight closer than the judges. I also thought Cortez wasn't in top form last night. That being said PBf won.

What I found bizarre was Cortez preempting clinches. He didn't even wait until they engaged, which totally broke up the action

What's next, is he going to predict that people are going to get knocked the **** out and stop the fight 2 rounds before?

    Senile old ****

When I said bias I didn;t ment on the way you think, that he favor one fighter over the other, bias in the way that he came to the fight with his mind made up that everytime their was holding was becuae Ricky Hatton and not PBF...in that he was clearly guilty of bias, since they both opted to hold and I will say PBF inititated a substatial amount of them...it was part of the Plan B strategy from Roger Mayweather...

I agree he was too involved but Hatton was trying to grab before throwing punches. He didn't try and fight his way to the inside, he dived in and tried to grab hold before throwing shots. If he hadn't have done this the ref wouldnt have got so involved.

Hatton was too hyper and smothered his own work and Cortez was too eager to make sure it didnt turn into a wrestling match to give them a chance to fight their way out of the clinch, but if Hatton hadnt kept diving in and fought his way in instead, it could have been very different

Partially agree since in the beggining of the fight he disreupted Rickyl;s rhythm while I agree that in the late rounds it disrupted PBF rhythms.....

When has Cortez ever been a good ref? Hes always sucked. Steve Smoger should ref every meaningful fight.

He should go the route of Mills Lane and retire at 60.He is just 4 years over due.A very bad performance from the once steady Cortez.:-(

Well , I disagree, Joe Cortez had anumberof gret fights he Ref, I will he is not one of my favorites but I recognize he is one of the top Ref of the last decade....

I take Smoger, Randy Neumann, Tony Weeks, Kenny Bayless, Caiz Sr. or Jr.,over Joe Cortez a this point on his career,

The ref did his job and was not dumb and knew that hatton was ****ing clinching compulsively to avoid boxing and floyd was pushing off illegally with this elbows but that is b/c of the equally illegal arm grabbing and holding and hitting by hatton. The point deduction was legit only b/c floyd did a little acting which is a veteran move as he made it seemed like Hatton wrestled him to the ropes, turned him and fire off a rabbit punch. Which is partially what happened but floyd let it happen. ****ing excuse making ingrates
