Is Joe Frazier The Greatest Body Puncher Ever?

Frazier was definitely one of the greatest punchers of all times as well as one of the greatest pressure fighters. That was how he beat most of his
opponents, taking the starch out of them with vicious hooks to the sides.

 

There is no one singular fighter who is the best body puncher of all time. Too many names and too many body shots to decipher.

I'd say Frazier is one of the best of all time because body punching was a focal point of his attack in order to wear down his opponents. Dempsey, Marciano and Tyson were also very good heavyweight body punchers, so who's to say which fighter is better than the other? Julio Cesar Chavez and Marco Antonio Barrera were excellent body punchers as well. Any trainer will tell you that the left hook to the body is arguably the most important punch for the South American style or boxing.

Some may put Roy Jones Jr into this category because it's hard to forget the body shot that he landed against Virgil Hill, one of the best light heavies of his era and arguably all time.

 

In terms of frequency or effectiveness? I think Frazier is the best HW body puncher, but I wouldn't say he was the best ever. Like others have said, it's difficult to say but by no way a stretch.

I think SRR could be an underrated body puncher. He really digged at the side of your kidneys. It's not fair naming him, though, since he was pretty much brilliant at everything.

 

Lol as usually somebody has to bring up Rocky Marciano or Dempsey, Cant make one thead without something mentioning those 2 can you? Anywho nobody went to the body like Frazier.

 

As for HW i would agree with Dempsey,Marciano and Frazier. as the top three.

 

Part of the problem with body punching for me nowadays is that these goons wear their trunks halfway up to their armpits, and a bodyshot sometimes gets called low even when it's a perfectly good punch.

 

Frazier was good inside,he had to be because that was the only way he could fight.Very sweeping statement "greatest infighter" imo.
