He seems to have the speed, the skills, the guts. I hope he learns a big lesson from tonight. Though leaving such a close team would be a wrench.

It would, but for his career and his long term health he really has to consider it. Fighters at a certain level should move trainers occasionally just to develop new skills and nuance

I cannot remember Joe Murray being a loose and fluid boxer as i haven't been watching him for all that long. He still has talent but his boxing seems so forced, looks fairly ragged and overeager at times, so to answer the question he does look like a typical Gallagher fighter. I'll have to watch some of his earlier fights so i can see the difference for myself.:good

    Can someone educate me please?

Crolla had no idea what to do when he got hurt. Should this sort of thing not get covered of in sparring?

It can only get covered in sparring if you are actually hurt....Ultimately the only place that you find out how you are going to react is in the ring and thats then down to character and intelligence

Look at Macklin, as good as he performed in the Sturm fight, he must of knew Gallaghers tactics would have been shite against Martinez, so he moved to Buddy Mcgirt for the fight and boxed in a way I didn't know he was capable of, if he would have had Gallagher in his corner for that fight It would have been over a lot sooner.

Success sometimes breeds the line of thought that if it's not broke don't fix it. Sadly the guys got a stable of young lads who are talented mostly. As Ice said the kid can box there's no need for him to be brawling like that.

You can't always teach that stuff. Sometimes its in a boxer or its not. Even Tommy Hearns took years to get the hang of it.

They had Miguel Cotto playing Dizzy Dinosaurs to get him comfortable with being in a discombobulated state - doesn't replicate all of it, but might at least capture that lack of balance.

Surly this situation rears its head if you get good quality sparring?

No i dont think its coincidence that guys like steven/paul smith, john murray, crolla, macklin etc were all sitting ducks. None of his fighters will even reach european level
take a look at his history and track record all the top fighters have gotten stopped and scott quigg's/joe murray are next on the list

Next one of Gallagher's over-hyped fighters to take a beating will be quigg on June 16th.

I honestly cannot remember what pro fight I seen of his; it might have been against Mtchedlishvili, which was over two years ago (!). My memory might be a little hazy, but I'm sure I remember thinking he had a 'different' style to what we're accustomed to over here, and certainly not one that you would associate directly with a Joe Gallagher fighter.

I believe I seen bits of his fight against Ancliff last year as well and I wasn't overly impressed.

I don't like to criticize a young trainer, but we're starting to build up quite a portfolio of fighters that suffer from the same problems now. It's starting to look less and less like a coincidence or something that could be put down to the type of fighters he's inheriting.
