I was listening on the radio to the Khan fight on Saturday and in the corner, Goosen didn`t know a thing all he said to Khan was use the jab and box then after a couple of rounds said finish him, WTF? Hunter was a far better, more specific trainer, I feel, do you agree? 'head movement!'
I think the time has come to stop blaming or picking holes in Khan's trainers because the list is getting long and what you're saying about Goossen was pretty much said about all of them.. "the previous trainer was better" or "Khan needs a new trainer". I believe this is the list of Khan's trainers Oliver Harrison Jorge Rubio Freddie Roach Virgil Hunter Joe Goossen And we are still talking about the same problems Khan had with Harrison, defence, ring IQ and chin. Goossen could have given Khan great advice and it wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever in my opinion because I believe the problem is with Khan and not the trainers.
Nothing wrong with Goosen. He's 60+ years old and has been training fighters for more than 40 years. If he was a bad trainer he would have faded away a long time ago.
My old buddy Randall Tex Cobb summed it up perfectly when he said "When the bell rings the trainer climbs down the steps to safety its the fighters ass on the line in there" LOL Wise man Tex
Khan can't be saved by the John the Pope. The man is just too shop worn in the brain. Whenever it gets slightly jarred he begins falling down because it's trying to protect him and the rest of his body from extreme shock. He should quit before serious injures occur.
65 years old and he's still rocking a head of hair that puts 99% of us to shame. This content is protected
This. Khan rarely listens to his trainers anyway. Roach and Hunter both said Khan was very inconsistent with training. Hunter on several occasions said that he tried to get Khan to commit to fighting at least twice a year, since Khan has a style that requires consistent ring activity, but Khan wouldn't do it.
