Not as in Holyfield...But I just know him from looking him up now.
Much success as an amateur & in holding British titles.
Started boxing as a pro late, fairly active & recently turned 36.
Considering how few bouts he had under his belt, took on good competition early.

Perfect record, only Jennings took him the distance.
is this guy a phenom, or is it that somewhat that talent has declined but size increases have allowed dudes like him to dominate more often?
Might he be a real Foreman-esque "The Juggernaut"...Or not/it is all for naught?

I think he can beat some top names and lose to others.

I really underrated him to begin with.

Comfortably top 10. Would beat some of the more established names in the division.

I reckon he loses to the big 4 though.

He's one of the best in the world but he has obvious strengths and weaknesses, Kind of like a super heavyweight Margarito (iron chin + amazing workrate, but not fast or terribly skilled). His age is against him though, big time. He's running out of time.

He is an elite world level HW.

He can win and hold a world title, but they need to keep him away from fighters with good footwork and movement. His major weakness is his feet and his movement.

I think he would destroy Wilder but would struggle against Fury or Usyk. A fight with AJ would be a difficult one to call as AJ does have the tools to box but also lacks the durability and is fragile

Once you can get your head around the concept of the Slow/Fast Paradox you will understand what makes Joyce so effective and the most deceptive boxer in the history of the sport.

I agree. He's metronomic with that jab then suddenly changes tempo and his opponent has been conditioned into a defensive rhythm.

He has a lot going for him. Absolutely massive, people call Joshua a 'super heavyweight' but Joyce is the same height and 260lbs just from his frame it seems. And that weight comes at no obvious disadvantage as he has probably the best volume and gas tank of anybody aside from Usyk. Add that to a very aggressive, 'walk them down' style, decent skills, great accuracy, a great jab, good footwork, solid thudding power, and one of the best chins in the sport: and you have a very accurate nickname.

The only concern I have is the amount of punches he takes. Even if he never gets knocked down, he might get hurt enough to ruin his fight game. Even if he never gets hurt enough, it's not exactly good for his health. He should work on his defence more at this point and focus on being less open in the earlier rounds. I get with Takam he was showing off a bit and didn't fear his power, but against big punchers he can't afford to be caught like that, granite chin or not.

He should do well, but I'd pick Fury and Usyk over him. AJ I'm not sure about, we'll see how he does against Usyk. Even Whyte is a banger that could get something through, but I'd generally favour Joyce.

I'm confident he beats Joshua. I think Fury outboxs him though.

No. With the HW tempo and his age, he will fight 3 more times and he will be 39

I've been impressed with Joyce since Rio 2016, he for me was always one to watch more so than Yoka or Hrgovic. But is he the real deal? Depends on what you mean, I don't think he's just some overrated hype job like Dubois or Ajagba but then again I have doubts he can beat the very top guys. Guys like Fury, Joshua, Usyk even Wilder maybe a step too far. He's very good but I don't think he'll be the next dominant champion.

Not sure it matters here. Joyce seems to be ageing well and he doesn't exactly rely on speed, fast feet, or reflexes. Aside from the 'getting hit too much' concern I have, he's basically the ideal form for a long-life heavyweight. Could probably compete in his early 40s.

Joe Joyce is the 2nd best fighter on the planet after Tyson Fury.

You just have to look past his syrupy slow punches.

Nobody with any sense should go near him, only Fury can deal with that man. AJ has a punchers chance early doors.

People question his age but I think he's got better with age. Punch resistance has got better. He's fully grown into his frame.
