see i dont agree i think that world class means elite in at least one disipline. like when some one is a world class stirker the could compete with the best strikers in the world. or a world class wrestler is someone who competes at and international level. world class is elite they are the same. and joe has not single skill set that is world class.

hes a top 15 but not elite and hence forth not world class

Well, Joe Stevenson is world class MMA fighter, he competes at an international level and he competes against the best MMA fighters in the world. By your definition Forrest isn't world class, the guy was a champ but he's not elite at any discipline. So former UFC champ isn't world class?
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I no way consider world class as elite. Elite are that, elite, they are THE best. World class are just some of the best from all over the world. World class is a MUCH broader and bigger group. Kind of like, Army and the Rangers, one is world class, the latter is the elite of the world class.

 

In the grand scheme of things? He's world class. He could submit 99.9 percent of the people on this planet, so that would make him the cream of the crop as far as humanity goes. In the UFC, though? Well, I think he's a notch below world-class as far as fighters go. He's a contender and can be competitive with most fighters. But he's a step behind BJ Penn (then again, who isn't?) and a touch behind some of the other top guys at 155.

i agree world class is broader but at any singular discipline hes not world class. how ever at mma he combines it all together well.

MMA is a discipline in and of itself; how a guy rates in other related sports is really only a piece of background information. The thread pretty clearly asked if he was a world class MMA fighter, so how he rates in other sports, or even in specific aspects of the sport of MMA, isn't really relevant.
