And when he loses it is often controversial or just very close. The guy always comes to fight and has that frustrating kind of style.

Yes, he is. Byrd's got the best argument against that but the bottom line is Ruiz is, at worst, the 2nd best US heavyweight of the 2000's.

Whatever any fan wants to imply or draw from that is up to them, but it is what it is.

You know that boxing is brutal sport, wins the one who succeed with his technique.
In theory boxing should means to throw punches only but the defense is part where everybody differs, some of them run (see Haye vs valuev) some of them try to duck, other use jabs to stay at the range other
just hold ... in Ruiz case he is not holding all the time, he is first throwing punches then holds when he anticipate the other guys to counter him.

But ... in Ruiz defense, if the other guys would be smart and good enough they should have no problem with either knock him out (Tua) or outbox him (Toney/Jones). Golota was close to do both but he chocked and was screwed out.

Great jab, sneaky right hand, very strong, deceptive speed, glorious beard, undeniably good resume. Ruiz da man :good

Byrd > Ruiz, but aside from those two there's not much going on from the US.

most accomplished of the last decade, unless you count Rahman ahead of him. Definitely not the best H2H though.

Its funny the turnaround in respect for Ruiz as of late. I wonder in 20 years what will everyone think of him?
