He got knocked spark out twice and did not manage to avenge those losses. Some people were questioning Lennox Lewis status as an ATG but LL avenged both losses convincingly.

I think he is more trying to make a point about Lewis than questioning Jones. I agree Lewis is an ATG as do most rational people

This is a ******ed thread. There's no doubt he's an ATG. He rates higher than Gayweather, Tito, Mosely, Lewis and all the other guys in his generation...except maybe Hopkins.

Lewis was not a faded fighter when he was KO'd. Jones beat enough higher quality fighters than Tarver/Johnson in his prime to have proven himself.

    He's an ATG for sure.

Almost certainly. In his prime he was as talented a boxer as you will find. :bbb

If you mean in terms of personality - well.... the case gets more shaky.

Like you say, he didn't demand the rubber match with Tarver, and went for Johnson instead. Guess what happened next :-( .

Part of what will make a boxer great is "sealing the deal" - avenging his losses or at least being confident enough to step up to the plate after a loss(es). He didn't, and that is something that rightfully has been lobbed by his detractors.

But ATG there can be no doubt.

He outranks Hopkins by a fair margin. You could argue at least 3 of the fighters mentioned in your post do as well. Depending on the criteria.

Some people suggested LL could not be an ATG because he got KO`d twice by "journeymen". I`m not sure Johnson and Tarver are miles better than Rahman. Roy didn`t avenge his defeats.
