How does macklin let alone heiland deserve to be fighting an eliminator of any description. Macklin is still living off the "robbery" against strum His "brave challenge" against Martinez and well we won't mention golovkin. So now he's heading to his 4TH ! World title shot on the back of a tooth and nail very border line decision against a journeyman who bust him up badly and now another journeyman which will somehow propell him to a title shot.i wouldn't bank on him winning the eliminator let alone beat any champion,it's a joke
Macklin looked like **** in his last fight. A win by Heiland would not surprise me, because Macklin is already past prime.
Heiland is very underrated, he deserves the shot more than Macklin does, but neither should be in this eliminator. Heiland should have at least beat someone that isn't a domestic level talent before getting this shot, and Macklin has struggled lately and shouldn't even be in the running until beating someone relevant in the top 30 at MW convincingly.
What about top 10 or 5 even,it rediculous how this can be considered an eliminator,I know it's nothing new but it's a joke,it's not as if macklin is an ex champion or an anybody really his biggest fights have all been defeats.winds me up
i told them on twitter it was a joke of an eliminator bout when they first made it, not that anyone gives a ****.
Macklins last two opponents were all wrong for him.....big, tall, rangy and tough. Also there was nothing much at stake in those fights. He has ALWAYS looked poor against those kind of opponents...do jumping to conclusions that he is "washed up" may be premature. He looked equally bad against similar opponents prior to winning British snd European titles by ko, prior to his undeserved "loss" to Sturm, prior to his sterling effort vs Sergio etc. Obviously it IS possible Macklin is past his best, but let's see how he does against Heiland before calling time on his career. Heiland and Macklin are certainly more deserving of this opportunity than many others...including andy Lee and korobov who are contesting a "world title" soon.
wtf? lee & korobov have beaten live bodies recently, convincingly, instead of looking mediocre against stiffs.
Lee? After Jr broke him down, Lee looked mediocre against some domestic level guy. Then he got a few quick KOs before almost loosing to a journeyman. After that John Jackson was basically steamrolling him until a lucky punch saved Lee.
Really? Do list the "live bodies" and the "stiffs" for us please... Macklin is NOT contesting a world title. Lee is. Yet Macklin is the one getting stick for being "undeserving" atsch
Indeed. andy struggled with Anto Fitzgerald, then the French welterweight Horta, then almost got stopped by Jackson jr, a crude novice. For this he gets rewarded with a "world title" shot.....against, ironically the almost equally abysmal Korobov. Yet it is Macklin and Heiland getting the stick on here.....:huh
