Wow thanks for the spelling. I didn't know it when I went to two of his fights or anything.

I thought it was a suiting nickname, given his technical skills, ring generalship, and his smooth-as-could-be demeanor in the ring. He certainly could be brutal, and often was, but I've never seen someone so smooth at doing it.

I do believe it's the best nickname ever. Do you have a personal favourite?

That one's certainly up there. He's my favorite fighter outside of Whitaker.

I must be out of touch with most boxing fans. In my opinion, nothing beats "The Galaxy Warrior". "The President" is good, too.

How do you see a fight between them going at 147, if it was the Sweet Pea of the McGirt and Chavez fights? That Pea went up to 154 and beat Vasquez, so at that stage he was clearly comfortable enough at welter. Could he have beaten Napoles IYO?

I don't think so, not at WW. Napoles was just more comfortable there, though it would've been quite a tactical affair either way. At 135 and 140 it's a much more difficult fight to call.

It's absolutely true. That was his nickname in his younger days, which was misconstrued by either a journalist or a commentator, who misunderstood the crowd when chanting it.

Manos de Piedra would be my favourite. "Battlin´" is great, "Kid" or the German equivalent "Bubi" is also cool, "Gunboat" is funny imo, I also like those preceded nicks which are related to where the fighter comes from like in "Panama" Al Brown.
