Everyone has kind of written him off because of his last 3 performances. I like to believe that he hasn’t aged overnight and the problem is mainly the weight cut. We saw some glimpses of the old Taylor last time out. He had some rhythm going against Catterall and even buzzed him a few times. What he’s missing is that extra strength he used to have before all the years of weight cutting. Skill wise, he’s a whole lot better than most of 147. I think Taylor may surprise us and become a serious threat at welterweight, anyone agree?

The problem he will have is he is a physical fighter, and most of the top 147s are huge at the weight.

I think he is done. The weight cuts, along with not living the life outside of the ring has caught up with him.

Hard to see how he can mount any challenge - IMO he has regressed a lot since leaving McGuigan, and although Catteral was a bad match up for him style wise, Taylor still looked like his reactions had slipped, and he was head hunting a lot, with his previously stellar body work almost entirely absent.

No. His best days are way behind him and he takes too much time off between fights.
Arguably hasn´t won a fight since 2021 and I thought he looked bad vs Ramirez.

I think he could have some success. He won’t be cutting as much weight and 147 is pretty weak right now

    Idk to be honest
He looked super drained at 140
So maybe, he is also no spring chicken.

I thought he did. It was a razor close fight despite the two knockdowns.
Taylor´s defense was lacking as was his offense. Taylor made his bones with inside fighting and sharp body punching. He however showed little of that vs Ramirez. Ramirez often got the better of him on the inside as Taylor mainly covered up and waited for his time.
I actually said it back then that Taylor seems to be regressing. And heck, I would put money on Ramirez easily beating him today.

Does he have a fight on the horizon? I thought he had to move up like 2.5 years ago.

There's a reason why he never moved up before despite struggling at the weight. His style like Hatton before him, requires him too be very physical up close and at a higher weight that simply isn't going to translate well, just like whenever Hatton fought at 147 he looked terrible as one of his strengths was completely nullified.

I don't expect him to have any real success if he moves up.

I didn’t expect him to have a chance at all for a couple of years. Thing is though, most of biggest threats have moved up. Spence, Bud, Ortiz, are all gone and I’m sure Ennis isn’t staying long either. Welterweight is a wasteland and I think he might be able to become a problem. He’s still in his early 30s after all.

Nah...he's done regardless of what weight he's at.
