He never had any chances at welter. Moreover, I disagree with you and I honestly think that he became old overnight too, so it makes it even worse. Neverthless, he should move up to welter. He will do better than he is doing currently fighting like a wallking dead. He will not beat the top guys at welter, but at least he will be able to fight like a man, and not like a corpse. He doesnt need to go up to welter and fight the top guys either. He can go up to welter, make some good fights vs people he can win, and then cash out vs top guys and retire. Actually, anything is better than staying there where he is.
I generally don’t agree when people devalue highly rated fighters by pointing to a weak division - but in the case of Taylor I think it’s pretty much true… I don’t think he was ever that good, and I also think he’s gotten a lot worse….
He could be top 10 at welter. The division isn't stacked. I could see him upsetting Norman Jr if he sticks to a jab
Have you even seen Taylor fight? He’s either dropped or stopped everyone not named Catterall or Prograis. The guy has a tough punch, he just isn’t a great finisher.
He's never looked the same since leaving McGuigan. I think he lives like Hatton and it's catching up with him. Not sure he's gonna do anything of note now at any weight. He'd be best to try and make money. It's annoying he never really got promoted like others, he'd have been better off starting off his career with a defeat to Caterall so that people would've heard of him when he won all the belts.
