I was always curious about that. Do you know which style of Taekwondo it was?
Was it ITF or WTF? I'm guessing ITF, but wasn't sure.

Josh was ITF practitioner. The same with me. But I'm not sure if he ever achieve black belt or not. His uncle is 9th Dan in ITF (9th is the highest degree in ITF Taekwon-do).

EDIT : I just find out that Josh was an ITF black belt.

Cheers. I suspected that was the case; ITF having a bigger focus on punching than WTF. I attended the ITF world championships when they were held in Cardiff about 8 years ago. I used to do WTF myself, and fought overseas in mixed martial arts, etc. I could appreciate that the top ITF fighters had a good control of distancing.

Ironically, Prestonpans is quite well known in Scotland whereas Josh Taylor isn't, unfortunately. I live about 15 miles away from 'The Pans' as it is affectionately known.

I used to be a WTF practitioner. When I studied under this style, I felt something not right like how the sparring does not include punches at all and how this supposed martial art looks like a sport game to me. Later, I had the priviledge to study under ITF style and finally had my black belt degree here. I find the ITF style to be more reasonable. Many questions that unanswerable in previous style was solved here since everything seems to be logical here. For instance, I always ask myself how can we kick our opponent if he knows that we are going to kick him. And I find out that the strengths of Taekwon-do is that we can combine both punch and kick to open our opponent's defense and this is where the factor of unpredictability comes in.

ITF is the less famous and smaller organization than WTF. However, it is still big, growing and have many followers. We are proud that recently more ITF practitioners gain success in world class combat competitions, such as : Conor McGregor, Valentina Shevchenko and now Josh Taylor.

Everyone in Presonpans knows who Josh is, ergo, every Scot who knows Prestonpans must know who Josh is too :deal:

And I've been to Scotland once and my surname is of Scottish origin so I know what I'm talking about
