Very talented Southpaw in an unfashionable division (140 lbs) from a small British Country (Scotland to Calzaghe's Wales), racking up wins vs decent to good opponents but has super p4p talents in Terence Crawford and Errol Spence just a division away from him. It's kind of similar to Calzaghe dominating 168 lbs with Hopkins at 160 and Roy Jones at 175 lbs. I think Calzaghe was a bit better, though.
Someone that's really special isn't the [paste in name from the past] of an era, but his own thing. Nobody calls Lomachenko the Pernell Whitaker (or something simular) of this era, but just Lomachenko, which means more than enough already.
Josh Taylor will certainly fight against top level PRIME opponents, he has at the very least the balls to do that. I know Taylor, he will go for glory and greatness, win or lose, this is a fighting machine. He has the fighting guts to just go for it. Something Calzaghe was to afraid to do so. The guy must has the highest percentage of complete tomato cans on his record ever, especially for a guy considered a "ATG". Sorry, I'm not buying it.
Warrington reminds me more of Calzaghe albeit an Orthodox version Slightly off topic but does Hurd remind people of Froch a bit? Flat footed, winging shots, durable, plodder but somehow gets the job done most times..
What a moron you must be to think a guy who won every title at 168 'afraid'.. Kessler & Mitchell should both have been unification fight's for Calzaghe.. Both were noted punchers & 2x champions at SMW when he faced them. Hardly tomato cans considering they have beaten the likes of Froch & Frankie Liles between them.. Mitchell was *Otked in Germany.. He should have been a 3 time belt holder after this fight! Calzaghe retired him.. BM was 30, MK 28.. Hardly past prime. Lacy too was considered prime.. Overrated yes but hindsight is a haters friend & he was touted as the coming star.. Who are you to question a mans guts & fortitude anyway?! You've never set foot in a ring I bet... Yet you're calling men who do coward's ha ha ha let's see your resume? Ignoramus.
Ask me after the Prograis fight. JT is a very talented, world championship class fighter. If he beats Rougarou, I'm fully aboard the JT express.
Calzage's resume is littered with tomato cans, and then 2 very over the hill legends. He missed way to many fights that could and should have got made. I would questions the balls of any fighter that pulls out of a Glen Johnson fight 3 bloody times.
they are very different. Taylor has won his first recognised title six years younger than Joe, at 28 to Joes 34. But we need to let Joshs career pan out before we can make a comparison. Would Josh be able to unify for a few weeks like Joe did? Will Josh make more than one defence of his IBF title to surpass joes one ibf defence? We just dont know yet. However we can compare amateur careers. Josh is a much better amateur, easily, way ahead.
Josh Taylor is about to fight the kind of opponent in his NEXT fight that Calzaghe faced in 41st fight. Let that sink in. Calzaghe was fighting Tocker Pudwill in his 31st fight LOL Calzaghe fought too many bums and worthless, useless fight. Just too many.
yes but Josh may go on to fight 40 bums after this, thus equalling Calzaghe - so we dont know. We should wait till career is over.
Hahahahahaha. Josh is simply not that kind of fighter. There is no chance he would do that. Win or lose, he is shooting for glory.
