    :deal

Only an idiot would try to make the claim that somehow Clottey isn't mentally sufficient, or doesn't have the heart to win against elite fighters, when one of those losses (Margarito) was very close despite a hand injury, one (Baldomir) was a complete bull**** stoppage while he was clearly whippin ass, and the other (Cotto) he whipped that boy's ass only to be robbed at MSG.

Yes, he's underrated. And no, I'm not a Pac****, and hate to even side with those deranged, rabid, lunatics, but most of his underrating is based on trying to discredit Pac and the fight. Just facts.

But these motha****as will learn, once he stretches Pac out like a cheap car mat next Saturday night.

You obviously were watching Grey's Anatomy or some chick flick when the Cotto fight was on. He whipped that boy good, with a bad leg, after giving him a KD and two additional rounds where he gave him free shots to break his spirit.

    I agree

I favor him over anyone in the welterweight division not named Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I think he won the Cotto fight and yes all of his losses are debatable. He will if not beat Pac then give him some problems mark my words.

depends on your view of him really,in my opinion hes tough as nails, deceptively skilled but lacking in the mental resolve to become elite, hell of a solid fighter & a hard nights work for ANY fighter.

We will see his worth in Pac fight. I believe he has at least a chance, despite being huge underdog. However he will probably lose on points, because of the incredible Paquiao punching rate. If Clottey wins more than 3 rounds against Pac, then its a very good achievement.

Clottey is vastly OVERRATED. Every big fight he's been in- every time theyre mentioned, its followed by a myriad of excuses.

Thing is, he would be a good fighter...except hes mentally ******ed.

Clottey is a good opponent and as proven in his fight with Cotto he can give any opponent he fights hell and Pacquiao won't be in an easy battle. Fans that count Clottey out are Pacquiao haters.

So much hate in that post proves that you will be the first one on this forum to give Pacquiao zero credit if he wins the fight and if he loses you will yell "I told you so" not based on telling anyone ANYTHING. You never even backed up your prediction with logical examples of how Clottey's style will counter Pacquiao, if anything you just type in rubbish then a three word prediction. More like "Clottey will win because Pac fans are the worst group of people on earth", that's not a prediction that's you being emotional.

About the Baldomir fight, the stoppage was not bull****. Clottey used his head in that one intentionally despite winning on a regular basis, he was warned numerous times till the referee saw enough. Clottey uses his head against anyone he fights like it's a third punch INTENTIONALLY, it doesn't take skill to see through that with ease. He was using it against a blown up past it Corrales on a regular basis and he was clearly winning that one as well.

The only major issue against Pacquiao is his use of headbutts which I'm sure Roach will point out a lot before they step in the ring. As long as they avoid that Pacquiao has the style to counter anything Clottey does and he also has the speed to kill his chances more. If Clottey makes it a close fight where he abuses the southpaw/orthodox stance with headbutts then Pac can get cut early and this will be an ugly competitive fight. Against a southpaw charging in he won't need to train a lot to time those intentional headbutts, Pacquiao should make sure he's not reckless, if he does then expect a one sided UD for Pac based on styles with the illegal tactics fully countered.

Clottey doesn't get enough recognition, but I wouldn't call him an ELITE welterweight. He's fought some tough opponents, but seem to come up short. None the less, he's still a force to be reckoned with

I wouldn't call him an elite welterweight either and questioned those that did in discussions here before the Cotto fight. After that fight I can understand those that will call him an elite competitor in that division though I still disagree simple because the fight with Cotto was 50/50 and Cotto is an elite welterweight.
