Is Joshua good for beating wlad, or is he exposed by older wlad?

It was a twilight meeting. Klitschko were post prime by 3 years or so, Joshua were pre prime by about the same number of years. Even with both men in ther absolute prime it's still a close fight, but I lean towards Klitschko to edge out a close victory.

Joshua is very good, and in this case just good enough to beat Wlad at age 41, 1.5 years since he last fought.

Pre-prime , inexperienced , novice Joshua only hit the deck because he momentarily depleted his gas tank when recklessly trying to take out Wlad in the previous round.

The fact such an experienced version of Wlad couldn't dispatch a gassed out , green Joshua proves no version of him would ever beat a more prime , mature and disciplined version. :ciao:

People talking about Wlad not being PRIME, so 18 fight Joshua was PRIME, absolute bollocks.

The fight itself was fairly uneventful until the 5th, let's say it was 2 rounds a piece. Joshua goes for the KO. Hurts Wlad but not enough, becomes reckless and Wlad lands a brutal left hook. At that point Wlad takes over the fight based on Joshua being hurt. All this talk of being out boxed is true to a point, but let's not pretend there was any out boxing from the opening bell, that's not what happened. At soon as Joshua got his head clear, he stepped on Wlad and finished him. Not bad for a guy with 19 fights. Who was Fury fighting in his 19th fight, who was Wilder fighting?

Wlad was clearly not prime but neither was Joshua and probably still isn't. Yeah Joshua was exposed as being a bit green when he emptied the gas tank going for the KO. No shame there.

He is good for beating Klitchko, if he wasnt good he would of lost to even a 40 year old Wlad. However he did manage to highlight so many of Joshua's flaws that only the biggest of fanboys could ignore. Some people want to try to write off the Klitchko and Povetkin wins but Povetkin is still a serious threat to any current Heavyweight and Klitchko would still be a serious contender now if he unretired. I wouldnt really be confident in any other current heavyweight beating either Wlad or Povetkin right now. and yes i know Fury already beat Wlad.

Wlad was 41 or 42 and not 39.

So 39yo Wlad was in his prime agaisnt Fury and 41yo against joshua ? but I guess 30yo tyson was past prime against hol and 37 against bunch of bums? You can’t spin this the way you like it.
Wlad looked shot against jennings and was shot against fury and joshua. Joshua is just a very poor boxer, he’s a robot on roids, that’s why wlad almost finished him.
Joshua is a poor man’s wlad. Wilder has a very good chance to KO him.

    Wlad peaked late.

41 year old Wlad is probably as good (in a different way) as 26 year old Wlad.

    His prime was 31-36.

It's a good win for Johsua without a doubt. Sure Klitschko had been out for a while and lost to Fury 2 years prior, but still it was a boring points loss and he was the reigning champion for 10 years. That's how boxing has been for decades. The young guy comes up and retires the old star and then becomes the new star

Buster Douglas KTFO Mike Tyson. Not only did he beat him, but he beat the **** out of him every single round like a piñata. The only thing that helped Mike stay in there is that he doesn't have a glass chin. And Mike is my favorite fighter ever. I'm not convinced Buster Douglas beats Corrie Sanders.

Wlad was a good fighter. Not a favorite of mine, but he was a good fighter.
