vote and discuss boxing scholars of boxing news 24 forum. when i rank fighters, you either fall into : - great - elite - HOF - ATG - legendary - Ali Question, does JMM fall into the ATG category?
Yup and those guys know almost nothing about boxing He's definitely below Pac/Floyd in terms of rankings but he definitely is part of that illustrious list. He's 3-1 vs Pac. Pac has never won convincingly vs Marquez.
pac is not an atg because he never dominated any division and only has 6 title defenses for his whole career
The only name that stands out on Marquez's resume is Pacquiao, you cannot put him as one of the atgs just because he beat Pacquiao once. :deal
Marquez is a multi division titlist, including lineal LW champion. He holds multiple significant wins. And his quadrilogy with Pacquiao is one of the best in boxing's history. One that most people will claim Marquez realistically came out the winner of. He's been in tons of exciting fights. The reason I bring this up is because in your own thread, you claim that excitement directly translates to P4P ranking. Thus, it must translate to their place in history, correct? Something for you to consider. --- The thread all depends on how many fighters you consider to be "All Time Greats." If I'm extending that to only 30 fighters ever, then JMM falls well short. If there have been 100 ATG's ever, then JMM falls into that category.
my p4p list is based on: 1) resume in past year (most important) 2) ability 3) career accomplishments 4) excitement (least important)
Serious question: Do draws or debated decisions only apply in a fighters' legacy if it is a fighter you are arguing against? --- Manny Pacquiao, Joel Casamayor, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Diaz X2, Derrick Gainer, Orlando Salido, Michael Katsidis... pretty solid. His list of conquerors is greater than his list of top victims: Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley, John
you debate like a 5 year old. nitpicking and taking everything i say in its most literal and extreme sense. you didnt answer the question...is tarver an ATG for beating roy jones? ok marquez was the lineal lightweight champion and.............tarver was the true, lineal, undisputed, universally recognised light-heavyweight champion of the world. and for arguments sake, lets say ATG is a top 50 all time fighter.
Marquez might still fall short of that, I don't know. Haven't done one in a while and not since before Pac/JMM III even. No, Tarver is not an ATG. That much seems obvious.
