Who knows how time will treat him but right now he's already considered a legend and one of the best of his generation. If Pac is remembered as a legend, the name JMM will be right there. Jmm will always be Norton to Pac's ALI!
No.Was he great?Unquestionably.Was he better than princess naseem hamed?Without a mother****ing doubt:yep.
He is a perfect example of why people need to understand that not everybody has the same definition of "all-time great". Because he's an excellent fighter with excellent achievements, but if your interpretation, for instance, is defining a number, like top 50, then I would never have him there. If it's top 100, then his position is rationally arguable, imo, but he wouldn't even necessarily be there. You might have a very loose idea of what you consider an all-time great. You might say, if you figure a fighter in the famous fantasy time machine could give a good fight to just about anybody, best for best, with the best of other generations, then he is an ATG. The point is, you guys may be arguing with different definitions in mind-which is pointless and I wish I'd grasped that much earlier, when I joined this forum, because it'd have saved me a lot of time. Time I could've spent satirizing the phenomenon of trolling.
Yeah right... JMM did not face Oscar... JMM did not face Cotto... JMM did not face Mosley... Imagine JMM facing Margarito? Will he counterpunch him? And OH he is taller than Pacquiao, he has longer arms, has wider shoulders.. You still put him two levels below Pac?? NAH..i'd say at least three. :good
For those who say no. You guys have no respect for the sport JMM is one of the biggest assets in boxing. Heart, determination, superb technical skill and longevity has made him one of the best in our era. He arguably beat Pac twice aswell. And despite being 37 he is still the best lightweight in the world. ATG material
