Barrera was a skillful slugger. Fought with tremendous skill and talent. How many fighters can throw five devastating punches while taking several steps backwards???

    Watch the clip.

barrera is great and i rate him higher than morales but you must accept the fact that pac's style will always give barrera trouble.

Mate your the one who cant accept facts! in 2003 barrera had over 60 fights most of them wars and had bee naround for over 15 years! yes he was still an elite fighter but no he was not in his prime, if you actually new boxing you would clearly see how much he had slown by the pac fight

Just like DLH, at prime 147 de la hoya does not lose to Pacquiao. To fight a fighter like Pacquiao, you need your legs. ODLH, MAB and Morales were past their primes, and had no legs.

Exactly, why do people find this so hard to see! if JMM can push pac! in my opinion beat pac twice how can any one argue that peak MAB, EM, DLH would of not beatan pac i mean morrales did and he was past his best, does this not clear it up!

that is the point i am telling uliuli but in ths case, pac is greater than barrera. saying mab was past his best when he met pac is subjective. it was said that mab that pac fought was way better because of his improved boxing skills. and after the beating, he had a string of good wins against ayala, morales up to peden. to say he is not prime when pac beat him is just trying discredit pac as uliuli always does.

Many fans will turn a blind eye for fighters like Pacquiao.

Imagine if Oscar De La Hoya had only beat past peak and prime Camacho, Chavez and Whitaker (in Comparison to Manny's Barrera, Morales, and De La Hoya) and was claimed the best fighter P4P in the last 20 years. It would be ridiculous.

great points. even the great Roy Jones wasn't so great without his legs and reflexes. not to take away from pacman, he's a great fighter, but it's the truth pretty much.

Glad to hear the opinion of a true boxing fan, people who favour fighters get so rapped up in there own bs, i dont hate pac and what hes done is good, but the hype he is getting has gone to his, and his fans heads!

What part of Barrera not being in his prime don't you understand? He was not the same explosive fighter we had grown to love. He wasn't as fast, as explosive or as agressive by 2003. The Johnny Tapia fight confirmed this 100%.

The point here is mainly that Pacquiao fought a Past Prime Barrera.

the pac today is visibly slower than pac when he is younger but he is more on his prime now because of his added skills. jmm was more on his prime now than he was at 126 but he was way faster then. the point is, barrera was winning more spectacularly at the time when he was beaten by pac than when you think he was supposed to be in his prime (junior jones).

Concidering pac has put on almost 5 stone in the last 5 years then yeh he will be slower, think thats obvious! nothing you say to me will change the FACT and i mean fact that barrera was not in his prime when he met pac! lets see how good pac looks after 65 fights and a 16 years in the ring!

to me a fighter is on prime when he is still winning spectacularly on a good level of opposition. being beaten by pac doesn't mean he is not on his prime anymore. he was just beaten by the better man that night.

if a much younger barrera would fight as aggressively as he did before when he was supposed to be at his physical peak, he would more likely to be playing into pac's style even more.
