It seems now that the PR Team have " realized " that if Lopez fights the Cuban Gold Medalist his undefeated record will go down the drain, and even worst if Gamboa knocks Lopez out ( which he will ) his " unblemished career " and fame will go down the toilet...

The PR Team has realized that " The Cubans are back ", and they don't play around, if Lopez really wants to prove himself, he has to defeat Gamboa. He can run but he can't hide, let Gamboa keep on dominating everyone in the 126lbs and let Gamboa fight Chris John and the rest of the Champs at 126lbs, then after Gamboa wipes them all out let's just see what Lopez will do...

For all my concern, I don't have any respect what so ever for Lopez, he is always ducking the tough fights, first Caballero and now Gamboa...

Yuriorkis has said and shown that he will fight " anyone anytime ", he does'nt care about their names, status, credentials or Nationality but it seems that Lopez thinks only about " easy fights that generate a lot of money "...

Lopez is not a true Champion...:bart

u know what bill, i dont think that guy has any power though cuz bob arum already has the june 12 date reserved on hbo to make the fight happen and he said that if gamboa and lopez both win they will fight. i think that that second hand promoter wont be able to go against arum's wishes that's just what i think but we'll see

well, i will rate gamboa more if he beats chris john than juanma. what's this fascination among cubans with juanma vs. gamboa? are they rivals in the ams?

Cuba and PR are not really rivals in the Amateurs, 95% of the bouts between the two Countries are really won by Cuba.

In the pros, there is some rivarly between Cuba and PR. The reason is that PR has had many more Champions in the pros for a very long time ( mostly because Cuba has been absent for 50 years in the pros ) and the Nationality Rivarly is always there. Even though PR and Cuba have many things in common when it comes to sports there is always a " Rivarly "...

    But it's a " friendly one "...

Agreed. Would have been the same now if Fidel's revolution would not had entered Cuba!

It's not too late, Cuba is gaining lost ground in the pros now with names like Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Lara, Franco, Solis, Dorticos, Despaigne, Johnson etc. Pretty soon, we will be back on the professional boxing map again and recuperating our lost glory!!!

    Mark my Words...

    i see.

well i like gamboa and juanma both so i wish them luck. my opinion here is juanma would be the bigger star but that was before the mtagwa fight. gamboa is a superb amateur fighter. can he translate it to the pros? hopefully. i think he is being brought the right way. but time could not be on his side, how old is he now? juanma is still young so i understand why the apprehension from his camp. but right now, luevano is no pushover and could probably outpoint juanma.

Gamboa just turned 28 this past December 23, ( 2 days ago! ). He is still very young, and yes he was 7 times better as an amateur than Lopez. He is improving fight by fight, and is always impressing more and more. On the other hand you are right, maybe Luevano can outpoint Lopez but I really think that Lopez will stop him somehow...

    Keep dreaming...

    Gamboa ain't Lopez my friend...

Tell ya what, Gamboa will " ridicule and put to rest " this Mtagwa's myth of a tameless warrior. TECHNIQUE KILLS HEART AND COURAGE ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. And Gamboa has " plenty " in that department...

This is going to be another fight that Arum will **** up. He was already putting up road blocks.

I think however that this fight is alittle premature if it happens next year.

Juanma is currently 26 ; Gamboa is 28. Juanma was born June 3, 1983; Gamboa, December 23,1981. So Gamboa is only 1 1/2 years older than Juanma. They are very close in age.
