He got smashed by Pacquaio. Also had very narrow wins that could've gone either way including the two against Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. thoughts?
He got lucky to come up in the interregnum between Floyd and the Spence/Crawford duopoly, but he wasn't the only one (Porter, DSG, Mikey, etc) who was trying to do that so it was no mean feat. Feels like Thurman is living his best life more than he is chasing greatness. It's OK but I don't plan on paying for his fights if he isn't all the way in it.
Wins over Porter, Danny, Guerrero, Collazo, Julio Diaz, Josesito, Soto Karass, Chaves, Zaveck, Quintana, Barrios with a solitary loss to Manny. Pretty decent resume and he's very talented
I think it depends on where or how you think Thurman is rated. He has a lot of good wins and, while he was never breathtaking, he was always very solid. I think he's thought of as a very good fighter and a good champion. That is an appropriate rating.
He didnt got smashed at all. That fight was veey easy to score. Pac won the first 5 rounds with the kd in round one and was sloeing down and losing every round till that wicked bodyshot in the 10th changed everything. Thurman won round 11 and I felt Manny won 12. Final score either 115-112 or 114-113. Close but clear win and Thurman is a very good boxer.
