Thurman is very overrated fakes a car accident to stall a Shawn Porter fight refused to fight Spence til he had nothing left, only good fighters he’s faced in Porter and Danny he arguably lost and ran from rematches and got his ass whooped by a 40yr old. PBC bought into all his bull**** talk and gave him the nod in 50/50 fights and all we got was the entire welter division being held up because of this chicken sh!t
I don't think he would have beaten Floyd. Someone who throws wild punches like they're in a Rocky movie isn't beating Floyd. I think Thurman would run into counters all night long.
Prime and active Thurman was lethal to anyone he fought the best competition available to him and they were all solid champs - all lost Keith is going to make one last charge against Crawford v Spence winner and call it a day
Thurman is a shell of the former fighter he never was. Does he have the mental and shoulderural fortitude to compete with some of the monsters like Spence, Crawford, or Charlo at 154. A lot of younger fighters coming up at 147 that he could get at too, but I doubt it.
Nah, not imo. People overcomplicate street fighting. Out of shape 60 year old man who hasn't been in a fight in how long, vs a top level professional boxer near his prime. Thurman would hammer him. Even if he made it a good go of things and it got messy with hair pulling and grappling... the old man likely wouldn't have the chin or stamina at his age. Virgil reeks of the kind of guy that talks like he does and then turns his back and goes into shock when hit in the face.
He was a really good fighter but his layoffs and injuries have severely declined his abilities and desire.
He's been underrated for several years now. People fall for flashy KO's and when they stop coming the memories fade and the quality boxing doesn't do it for them. Thurman's an excellent fighter who's had some solid chins in his way and isn't quite the puncher he used to be regarded as when he was a hot prospect. I've never seen him fight and I don't really know who he is beyond the forum and his boxrec page but that is the general impression I get from the threads and his record. I bet it's true.
He outlanded Pac in their fight, very confused how that adds up to being "smashed". And if you think the Garcia or Porter wins could've gone either way, I'm not sure you actually watched either fight. Keith probably more than any of the current crop actually came up the hard way, his team didn't avoid any type of specific style. If anything, the fact that his injuries and then his journey towards being a zen master has people underrating him. He's nowhere near what he was, and he probably will never get back to "that" form, but to say overrated is foolish
Virg is a cool chilled guy and dad to recording artist Keyshia Cole. One Time Thurman talks to much and in the real moment of truth against Pacquiao he was found wanting. I personally thought Danny Garcia won their contest.
