I have read that Kell Brook has great hand speed and power, so I would like to know from some ESB heads that live across the pond: Is he the next big thing in British boxing?
I don't think he'll amount to much given the competition he will be surrounded by. I hope I'm wrong as he seems like a good lad with a decent boxing brain. He does carry speed power and accuracy but will it stand up against the big boys? If they don't rush him and just bring him on right he could go places but i wouldn't consider throwing him in against any top 10 welter for at least 18 months or so.
Agreed, he's made pretty light work of domestic opposition. Would like to see him tested more soon but he is only 23, so a lot to learn still. He's got good skills but has been 'well matched' so far, would be interesting to see how he would deal with a few opponents with a decent punch. Looks a bit slight compared to other welters. Still, he's got an entertaining style (likes to get em outta there) and a good prospect, worth keeping an eye on, definately.
I thought I read somewhere that he is positioned at number one for the WBO. He has not fought anyone to be ranked at number one. I checked another boxing site where they have him at number five for the WBO. Again, who has the WBO WW belt. Yes, I would agree with you and have this young kid take on some top ten guys to see if he indeed can hang with the big boys.
no, hes not as good as ppl claim, i could see him struggling against a fighter like Alfonso Gomez who isnt world class but he'll be steered well away from moderate threats like gomez, he'll fight a washed up champion like carlos quintana in 1 years time should he lose to berto for the WBO belt then he'll go on to defend the belt against domestic level fighters in the uk courtesy of his promoter. imagine if kell brook kept his hands low against a world class fighter the boy has no defence hes not making it to world levels its easy for 1 to be misslead by padded records
No. He has quick hands and puts combos together well, but his footwork is not very good and he leans his head back when trying to avoid punches instead of moving out of range. He is a bit upright despite his flashy style and way too easy to hit. His power is definitely improving but it is nothing serious and if you thought Khan faced a list of light hitters you should see Brooks resume. It is like a whos who of feather fisted fighters and one of them dropped him. More down to the fact that his feet are often too close together so when a counter comes he cannot react and is caught off balance, but still... He is improving and hopefully will continue to do so but there are several young fighters who look more promising. Tony Bellew at Light Heavy, George Groves at Super Middle and Frankie Gavin at Light Welter.
WBO's top 5 are as follows: 1-Clottey, 2-Antonin Decaire, 3- Krzysztof Bienias, 4-Saul Alvarez and 5-Kell Brook with Manny Pac the champion.
I know this, I mentioned it on my post, but I did read a promoter trying to push Brook as the mandatory for Pac. Maybe, I got the name wrong. I read it hear on ESB about a month ago.
This content is protected Kelly Brook!! :hey Hmmm...fast or powerful? No idea and dont care neither! This content is protected
WBO hasn't updated its website since before March. Clottey and Bienias both lost (Bienias to Brook), so they're dropping. Rafal Jackiewicz and some Kazakh guy I've never heard of are next. To answer the question, Strike hit the nail on the head. Good talent, but bad technique. His flaws will get exploited once he moves up a level or two.
would love to see his team fly in antwone the truth smith to fight kell in his backyard, the truth will reveal the truth
abit slight atsch brook is a huge welterweight with real power, think hes going to be up there a the top soon, 18 months or so and he will be ready for the title fights, not there yet
