I'll give you the home town aspect but beyond the rest of it is tripe.

Pasty Hatton yes. Hatton would have to get a release from dermatologist to be let on a beach in Florida. That dude is so white I have to watch his fights with my sunglasses on. He's so white you can see his bones. You put him next to Pavlik and McCartney would break into Ebony and Ivory.

Ricky is pasty as they get. Pavlik is a tan-boy next to him.

Whether Pavlik is really overrated, or whether he's just overrated by some fanboys and you're taking THEIR statement to heart.

If Manny Steward or Teddy Atlas says he's ready for the HOF right now, then Pavlik would be overrarted. If some 18yo punk poster fom Ohio says it, it means nothing.

I just hate how the terms overrated and underrated get OVERUSED here all too often.

And so we get into not recognizing him for his accomplishments on that basis? He is THE MAN at MW. His closest competition at the moment might be AA but I don't think AA would do much against Pavlik either. We may learn more from his upcoming fight. He has at least acknowledged that he needs to be more active in the states. But as some one pointed out with the Lockett fight, his plans went out the window when he got punched hard in the face. Can AA change his stripes? Until then, it is pretty much ALL Pavlik at MW for the foreseeable future. I know the Irish don't want to hear that. ;)

And we will see how poor the MW division is/was when Taylor and Miranda get more fights at 168.

If you think about it, Pavlik is very close to having achieved what Hatton has. Hatton's biggest career achievement is that he was/is the lineal 140 lb. champ. (A rare achievement in today's alphabet soup). Pavlik's biggest achievement is being the 160 lb. lineal champ. Pavlik has yet to do anything in a different weight class, as neither has Hatton other than struggling to a decision against a B level Collazo and getting KTFO against Mayweather. So, all that needs for Pavlik to "equal" Hattons accompishments is to have a couple of lackluster wins against limited opposition to offset Hattons wins against Urango and Lazcano and to blow out a way past it fighter two weight classes above his best days (Castillo). Then all he has to do is not get KTFO out vs. Calzaghe and he has then accomplished more than Hatton.

As I said in a previous post, the bar is set pretty low for Pavlik to not end up having a better career at this point compared to Hatton.

"Exposed" and "shot" are misused a lot more often but I take your point. I just don't get why the Hatton=Pavlik comparision is upsetting people? If you want to compare at the end of careers then fair enough (I personally think Hatton will end with the better resume) but unil then I really don;t see what Kelly has done that thats great.

I don't think it's upsetting people. It's just not that valid a comparison.

But I gues he hasn't done anything great. But that makes him overrated? :huh

You wouldn't by chance be from over seas would ya?:D

An interesting comparison in terms of fan support and what not.

However, as of today, Hatton's resume is far superior.

    Aye, I'm a Brit.;)

Its just they did a 30 minute piece on Pavlik before the Lockett fight and he really comes across as being an American Hatton. His values, family etc just a blue collar, ordinary guy.

The similarities end right before your last two points.

Sounds more like what the 43 year old hopkins made Calzaghe look. Popkins being teh only P4P fighter, in 15 years, Calzaghe has ever faced as well.

Calzaghe looked amature, overhyped and limited.

Hatton has nothing to do with Pavlik apart from the fact they have good blue coller support. Why use that to throw hate at a fighter.

Stick to the Calzaghe nut hugging.

Look, I know alot of british fans root for their guys mindlessly, how else can anyone explain Hatton drawing huge numbers to arenas when he was a nobody.

But this comparison is just a joke. Weight disparities aside, which of these things does Hatton do better than Pavlik?

    A) Power
    B) Defense
    C) Boxing ability
    D) Chin
    E) Stamina

The answer is F) none of the above, you dolts lose.

All you trolls what to talk about Hatton's bull**** paper record, but not even get into the fights themselves. Anytime someone mentions that Hatton got ****ing brutalized by Collazo, got his ass saved by the ref during the Lazcano fight, or that his "win" over Tszyu was dirty and quite unimpressive - you guys suddenly have nothing to say. None of you has even bothered to refute these facts, as far as I can see.

The poster on page three nailed it. This isn't about some lame comparison between Pavlik and Hatton. This is about Calzaghe huggers being threatened by KP.

If Calzaghe fights KP, he's going to end his career on a stretcher. He can't play the number game against Pavlik, throw twice as much and hope the judges diligently count every slap. It won't work. If he sits in the pocket, he'll go down hard. Believe it.

Whether Hatton would have survived or not is a matter of opinion, but one thing is for sure - the ref made sure nothing bad happened. Who the **** calls time to fix a shoelace?
