Beyer was pure donkey ****. :good Lucas EVT Beyer. Get your scorecard ready if you wish to argue that one.
Truth be told Drozzy: I've never seen the fight. At least I don't remember. I know the canadiens are upset with the decision though. Is there anyway you, in your most unbiased state of mind, could see Beyer winning, or are we talking clear cut Chavez-Whitaker like robbery here?
I had it 8-4, could make a valid case for 7-5 Lucas depending on how many of the first 6 rounds one's scored for Beyer. Beyer's jab was effective to an extent, but Lucas adapted well in the second half and landed considerably more meaningful punches. Lucas' defense was above average, and it showed in that fight. Not a clear-cut robbery for Germany's standard, but a certain 8-4/7-5 win for Lucas on most observers/columnists scorecards. Larouche is a composed man. He was cursing and waving both his hands in front of the WBC supervisor in the ring after the announcement of the decision. That says something.
:| :| :| ...pretty much that. Lucas was on his last miles, not the guy who fought Catley, Sheika, etc. Handspeed & reflexes were down. Credit goes to Kessler for doing a number on him, but Lucas was more a semi "name" at that point in history. Hence why Lucas has been dreaming to see Bute vs Kessler for years... Lucas' determination, for what kind & level of skills he had, was legendary in QC. :bbb
