Kessler also stopped Manny Siaca and clearly beat Mundine, so give him a little more credit.

Hopkins is lucky that Calz. did not warm up @ LHW by figthting Jones 1st, and maybe Calzaghe is lucky he didn't fight Jones 1st. Calzaghe was a different fighter for his 2nd LHW match, totally comfortable with the situation. For the match against Hopkins Calz. was new to the weight, after an entire career @ 168, fighting in the US for the first time and he still wore Hopkins down to a grabbing nub. Even Freddie Roach told Hopkins to retire after the fight. So then what happens? Hopkins finds the fountain of youth and smokes Pavlik, as if that does not add to Calzaghe's legacy. Kessler's success, or lack of, will influence the Calzaghe legacy, but moreso if Kessler succeeds.

I agree, Calzaghe's legacy will diminish with the failure of Kessler, but Kessler has so much potential that if he were to do all that is expected of him or even exceed it, then Joe will have his legacy skyrocket. As of now I see JC in the ATG between 90-100 ,if Kessler is a bust JC falls out but if Kessler does enough to bring him into the ATG list, we could see a huge jump for Calzaghe from top 100 to top 70 without even lacing up again.

a lot of kessler haters don´t even know who he have fought.
IMO it´s okay that some fans underestimate kessler...I think he´s got the talent to clean up the division.

Kessler is a very excellent fighter.

Calzaghe was a great fighter, except to the bigots.

Kessler is the only elite, prime fighter on Calzaghe's record. And he is an elite fighter: Andrade and Mundine clearly outclassed together with a broad skillset. No-one's comparing him to prime RJJ, but he's certainly a world-class fighter.

Even if Kessler does brilliantly for the rest of his career, he was just one victory for Joe. Unless the Pudwills and the McIntyres and the Veits all come back and start winning titles, history will always remember how Joe spent the nine years from '97-'06.

Kessler is a decent level operator, the level of a Scott HArrison a Clinton Woods that level.

Hes a marketable guy, alot of his fans have homsexual tendencies and want him to impregnate their partners thats where the love comes from.

I don't know about that. I do think he'd beat Abraham, and he'd have a chance with Dirrell based on styles, but probably not so much the others.

just to veer off topic real quick: while i don't think jones would stand much of a chance against joe even now, SOME credit to be given like you said to his effort. here was a guy who for TEN YEARS was at the top of the pound for pound list, who thoroughly dominated everyone in his prime. When he was getting tuned and humiliated by Joe, did he give up? no, every second of every round jones tried. Just cause he couldn't do much past the second shouldn't take away from the effort. People questioned his heart in the past but he took that wipe out with dignity and honour.
